I wouldn't say that the Patriots OL is weak, per se. There is some good talent on that O-Line. I think its just a product of the enviroment that they are in, when two of their top wideouts are TE's, and one of them (Hernandez), really isn't at all. Neither one of them are superior in pass protection, and since they have to be integral parts of the passing offense, it more often than not leaves just 5 OL to block 4 defensive linemen, especially since they do not use a fullback at all in their offense, and blitz pickup from their running backs are more often than not, poor.

The Giants knew how to handle them, the same way that they did in 2008, and the same way that most teams beat the patriots.

Put pressure on Brady without the need to blitz.

Love the tone in this thread, lads. Also love Sergio sticking up for Kyle Williams, and pointing out that the Hernandez drop was waaaay worse than Welker's; in stride, right on the hands... that was a perfectly thrown ball.

Also the point about the 4 man pass rush ... New York has some freaks up front. Although I disagree with the Pats running backs being unable to pick up the rush... Danny Woodhead is pass protection, incarnate.

The Giants are a more balanced team than the Pats, they certainly deserved the win.

The NFL is taking away millions of dollars of salary-cap space belonging to the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins for front-loading contracts during the uncapped 2010 season, according to league sources.

NFL Rumor Central

The salary cap is projected to be $120.6 million in 2012, but the Cowboys will lose $10 million, while the Redskins will be docked $36 million in cap space, sources said.

Dallas and Washington can split the cap loss over the 2012 and '13 seasons in whatever form they prefer, with $1.6 million each going to 28 other NFL teams, the sources said.

The New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders are the only two teams that will not receive a portion of the money.

During the pre-lockout 2010 season, the collective bargaining agreement expired and the league operated without a salary cap.

According to sources, the Cowboys and Redskins took immediate cap hits during the 2010 season that normally would have been spread out over the length of the contracts, giving them an advantage that other NFL owners found unfair.

The league took an abnormally long time to release the 2012 cap number, due in part to the fact that the league was trying to decide how to handle the issues, the sources said.

According to the sources, the deductions are not termed as violations, but are part of a recent agreement the NFL and the Players Association made to raise the salary cap number while preserving benefit increases and the performance pool.

Oh and Randy Moss trying out in San Fran?
Dammit Bombay, we 9er fans were content to let that little detail just slip on by

A move for Randy Moss doesn't make much sense to me (given what we saw in his last chunk with NE, Minny, Tennessee), although I find it amusing that Harbaugh is going to be the one throwing balls to him. Going to try and get a feel for his drive, I suppose.

One thing I will say: after last year, I trust Harbaugh's player personnel decisions. Even when it didn't work out, like with Braylon, the team wasn't affected by poor attitudes... actually, I only heard very positive things about Braylon Edwards from his teammates. They seemed to like him quite a bit.

Moss is easily one of the best of all time, but we need a long term solution. Not sure what his expectations would be, or if his head will fit through the door of our training facility, and I also question whether he'll be content with Alex's ability to stretch the field.

One thing is certain, the 9 are desperate for an upgrade at WR.

There is no such thing as that when it involves randy moss.
