The NFL needs to have a true developmental league, so that cutting the pre-season games can be more feasible in evaluating players during a season. A 16 team farm league, with 2 teams sending their players per team to balance out the rosters.

Cut the Preseason back to two games, make the schedule 17 games during the season, with a 2nd bye week thrown in between.

Therefore, you get more football during the regular season, the players get to rest a little more during the year, and the disadvantage of losing pre season games to evaluate talent is mitigated by a full season of developmental league football

Who gives a shit what the players want. This is supposed to be the fan's league, give them what they want.

Give the players a second bye week and that will be fine.

Meh... season's already too long for a game that mostly involves standing around.

If fan's want something to do, they can read a fuckin' book.:D

Jesus you'd swear these lads run headfirst into concrete for 2 hours every game, they're supposed to be athletes, they should man up and some of them lose some serious tubbage.

Stafford, Suh and Best have all had pretty good preseasons, along with the offensive line. I'm pretty satisfied with what I saw. The problem areas have been the secondary again though, unfortunately. If we can at least mount a better offense and improve slightly defensively I will be satisfied with this season. Hopefully we can win five games or so.

If not, then that's fine. If we draft next year like we did this time, I think we'll be solid in a few years.
I think they can win 5-6 games this year, although playing the AFC east as non conference is going to be tough, with the exception of Buffalo. They've rebuilt the defensive line, but they do need cornerback help. Their offensive line still needs some work however.

I take it nobody watched theHBO Segment on how head injuries have been shown to lead to ALS? Funny thing is, they also mention Serie A, and how many players are suffering from ALS after their players retire. Its a staggering amount

Pretty close. They did a scientific study on the pounds of pressure when two football players collide. They had Brandon Jacobs run into a tackling dummy that was going at the same speed as jacobs and they said that it was around 3600 lbs of force.

An NFL running back experiences the equivalent of 6 high-speed automobile crashes every game.

@Serge - I've some footy sites refer to ALS as "the soccer disease" or "football disease". Scary shit.

Yeah, they had a doctor in Turin state that the average age that soccer players contract ALS in Italy is 42, a full 20 years younger than the average age. You should watch it if you have a chance. The part concerning Steve Smith is just heartwrenching.

Here's the Irony. One of the partners at Boston University who are working on tracing ALS in athletes to head traumas is a guy by the name of Chris Nowinski.

He was also known as Chris Harvard in the WWE, as he was a Harvard Graduate with a degree in Sociology.

I jsut heard about this Nowinski guy on the local sports talk radio here in Dallas. He's gonna be on one of the morning shows to talk about this topic and his heartbreaking story
