But I would say Rome is better than Paris, certainly. Venice is fantastico as well.

Haven't been to Venice, but I've heard nothing but crap about the city from people that have been there. Polluted and totally destroyed by the tourist industry are two of the most common problems mentioned.

Well I haven't been to any yet, so I can only rely on word of mouth and pictures.

If thats true about Venice, its a shame. From the pictures I've seen it was the most beautiful city in the world IMO, along with Rome.

If you haven't been to either city you can't really say that you think Rome is better than Paris. You can't judge a city without having been there.

Venice is a nice city but it cannot be compared with HUGE cities like Paris, Rome and NYC.

I agree with Torkel on Paris having a magical something that cannot be described, thats why Paris is such an awesome city, but its about tastes, what I like about NYC is that is very cosmopolitan just like Paris but it has that American something all places in America have, while Paris is has that European something.

About Rome, I didnt like it very much. I liked it but I think places like Madrid, Paris and even London are better

I'll agree that Rome has more history, something that is very dominant while being there, but in a way Paris has more history, just in a newer sense. In stead of being a place where Roman emperors and the likes used to live Paris is a city where artists, authors and philosophers used to live. In a way I think that is cooler.

But I shouldn't really talk about Paris as I'm so firmly in love with that city. And it has some advantages over other cities right from the start. Not only is it the metropolitan that I have spendt the most time in and gotten to know the most, after being there once with my family I have been there several times with friends, someting that is just so much cooler. Rome I have only visited with my family, so I haven't experienced the nightlife and other aspects of the city in the same way.

Yes, you're absolutely right, it is about tastes.
One thing that doesn't seem to good about NYC is the people, I have seen A LOT of reality soaps and shows like that from New York and the people there seem very hard and cynical. Not too fond of that if it's true.

Don't know what you mean by "not because the arts are there or anything", but no town contains as many famous art museums as Paris, so...

It's just.. what you expect of a big city. Of course there are lots of great things in Paris and Paris is great, but it's exactly how you pictured it. Rome on the other hand isn't how you pictured it and that's why I found Rome more interesting.

The thing with Rome is that every building is gigantic. Even some meaningless police office seems to be huge. I mean, you're sitting in a car, you look at your left and BAM some colossal building right in front of you. And it's like that all the time.
