Anyone here a fan? i just saw season 1 and it is indeed good. on one hand you have the actions and the attitudes of the 50's which look so outdated and downright funny, juxtaposed to the advertising techniques that are scarily similar to strategies used today.

a lot of the jokes are repeated, like the constant "complimenting of women" but nevertheless, 'tis enjoyable

This show made me realize how pussified men have become (in Canada at least), and made me hate those who gave women a choice of preference between men and waxed-moisturized-lipgloss "men" like Cristiano Ronaldo :sergio:

I've been watching it live since it started. Partly because I was bored and wanted to watch a new series. Partly because the creator was one of the heavies behind The Sopranos, which I really liked. Sure, it's soap opera storytelling -- but it's done well.

What I most like about the series is the attention to detail. And how they don't dumb down their audience and leave lots of layers in the show.

Could you elaborate a little bit on what exactly you mean by "soap opera storytelling"?

It's a soap opera. Layer upon layer of character development and interaction. It's drama at its most serial basic. But when done well, and executed well, it can be something much more than a soap opera.

Btw, you could make a legitimate argument that men who want women to remain as pets are the real pussies. It's the same issue I have with many animal lovers who have a difficult time showing the same caring for other human beings. The people who open their wallets for injured puppies in the local news but could care less about a black kid who gets shot in the inner city.

Unable to cope with the challenge of someone or something considered as their equal, they're only comfortable in a safe role where they can have authority or control over something or someone else. If that person or thing might actually rival them or have the potential to hurt them, they turn into complete pussies -- unable to cope with someone or something that might challenge them for dominance. They just can't hack it.

No, not "can't". I say more like don't wanna bother with, have more important shit to deal with, could be doing something better. And not "pets" more like exactly that - women. You want men to be men and women to be women.

Just for the record, I never ever said men and woman aren't equal. I always say "they're not same". Which has been stupidly misinterpreted by my dear "friends" on this forum.
