Juventus Are Selfish - Zamparini

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has branded the Old Lady as being selfish and that the players there should do more to help former Rosanero striker Amauri...

The Bianconeri have been having a goal drought up front and Amauri has failed to score in their last two games.

The striker signed for the club from Palermo this summer however, his goalscoring has taken a negative turn after a good start against Udinese and Cagliari.

Zamparini believes the lack of goals has come about as a result of too much selfishness in the team.

"I have seen lots of selfishness in Juve's games. They never give the ball to Amauri and I don't know why this is," said the outspoken chief.

"He plays the ball, makes the run but he never recieves a return pass from his team mates.

"Maybe it's because Juventus don't have the players they used to out on the wings."

Three of the four goals Juve have scored in the league came from either Amauri's head or his boots. The Bianconeri will be hoping their luck changes when they welcome Palermo and Zamparini to the Olimpico on Sunday.

Amauri expects improvement
Thursday 9 October, 2008
Amauri asserts that there is no divide in the Juventus dressing room and expects the Old Lady to turn things around quickly.

Juve have been off form in recent weeks and a defeat at the hands of his former side Palermo was a big blow after draws against Catania, Sampdoria and BATE Borisov.

There have been suggestions that Claudio Ranieri could be on his way out, but Amauri believes problems have been blown out of proportion.

“This crisis isn't as big as it seems to outsiders,” the Brazilian stressed.

“This isn't a great time, but there are other sides who are looking to win the Scudetto and aren't on great form.

“We have players with great experience and we are united. We will calmly get through this.

“The old guard always give us something extra and I can assure you that there is no divide in the dressing room.

“The champions who won everything and then went through Serie B give us a great example of what it takes to be a Juventus player.

“And then we have the youth like Sebastian Giovinco, who has shown how good he is and has a huge future as a winger or a second striker.

“We are still looking to get to the Champions League Final in Rome and we can also fight for the Scudetto,” he concluded.

look at it this way...all the bad performances have been done at the beginning of the campaign...we can only get better from this position!
