And we do have a place for non-EU player in our squad , don't we ?
Amauri considering Brazil-Italy switch

ROME (AFP) - Highly-rated Brazilian forward Amauri is considering switching his national allegiances to Italy after the world champions' coach Roberto Donadoni said Thursday he would be considered for a place in the Euro 2008 squad.

The Palermo striker has scored seven league goals this season and is reportedly at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between AC Milan and Juventus.

The 27-year-old has played his entire senior career in Europe, firstly in Switzerland and then in Italy since 2001 and qualifies for an Italian passport, although he does not yet have it.

But Donadoni told Gazzetta dello Sport that the player figures in his thoughts for this summer's European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.

"As soon as he becomes Italian we will talk about it," he said when asked about Amauri. "We certainly can't ignore him."

Amauri himself is seriously considering the switch of nationalities as he is unlikely to ever get a chance of representing the country of his birth with the likes of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robinho and Wagner Love ahead of him in the international pecking order.

"I'm really happy to read that Donadoni is thinking about me for Euro 2008, but I still don't have the passport," said Amauri.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling that we will see him in a Milan shirt...
Good player but not a priority for us atm.
If we want a striker let's go for Huntelaar instead

Huntelaar is a similar type of player as Trez, don't know if they are compatible
Amauri- Trez would be a killer duo, and behind them VDV would rock big time

Italian Press: Juventus Bide Their Time For Amauri

The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are closing in on Palermo hitman Amauri - but won't be making a move just yet...

Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco was said to have met with his Palermo counterpart Rino Foschi yesterday in what could be the opening gambit in a move for Amauri.

Palermo are reluctant to sell their prize asset - with outspoken president Mauro Zamparini wanting 25 million euros at the very least for the attacker - but the two sides are appearing closer to reaching an understanding.

The fee could be offset by a part-exchange, with Palladino and De Ceglie said to be in the Sicilians' sights.

What would also smooth the deal is Italian nationality for Amauri. The Brazilian-born forward is on the verge of receiving an Italian passport - and could even play for the national team - which would speed up the paperwork in any move.

Also on Juventus' shopping list - albeit further down - is Udinese's Fabio Quagliarella. After meeting with Foschi, Secco moved on to talk with Friuli director Pietro Leonardi.

Like Palermo, the Udine side have an eye for Palladino, so any move that Juventus make for the highly-rated forward could once again take the form of a part-exchange.

Quagliarella may be seen as a second choice, but he would be cheaper - 20 million euros at the most :pumpkin: - and would have no passport-related complications attached to him.

I don't understand why we are linked to a striker although I like Amauri a lot, it seems to me we have problems in other areas. Our offence is the only part that seems to be alright by me.

That seems like a good deal, bringing Amauri/Quagliarella instead of Palladino. Me likes and approves this deal. Hope it has some truth in it.

Seriously over-rated, he is just on form now like Gila was and i dont see why, should we interested on an on form forward, we have on form forwards!
Our board should have thought about Amauri types of players,
before they signed, this... Iaquinta, for now we are stacked with him, no need to waste money on Amauri,
let alone a future star like Palla, we need to find DP's replacement, we should aim at younger players like Huntelaar.
Sacrificing Palla and all that money for a sub is incredibly stupid, as long as we have Iaquinta.

Palladino has not been playing as a striker at all this season, how are we going to accommodate them ? We have other areas that we need to cover. If a forward type of player is need we can get VDV and gio with the player we have.
