In CL I'd rather have Morata and we don't need Cavani to $#@! on Serie A.

In our situation Morata > Cavani
:agree:

That assist to Cuadrado, those runs with the ball :tuttosport: We can win serie A with Dybala-Matri upfront but what this guy gives us in CL is incredible. Cant think of a striker that could bring that to us

Cavani has 17 goals in 36 CL games. That 0.47 ratio is on par with the likes of Agüero, Henry, Shevchenko, Del Piero and Drogba, among others, and better than many more. So it's a bit of a disservice to say he wouldn't score goals for us in the competition. His EL record makes his continental record even better.

Of course Morata really excels in the competition because his attributes as a quick counter attacking striker really suit it. So far in his career he's averaging a CL goal every 180 minutes, Cavani is basically the same, but of course Morata has growth potential.

Well said.

For some reason people like to exaggerate Moratas impact in CL. He has been very good but he excells because he has needed qualities to do damage in open space and in counters. Besides hitting big form right time a year ago in playoffs. But he isn't ready sure fire top quality player yet at all. And besides age and bit of creativity someone like Cavani who has scored 100s of goals on consistent basis and is also quick and strong, is nowhere near close to a step down. He will be a step up on current Morata. It remains to be seen tho if Morata will be on pair or improvement on Cavani in the future. Until then some of you need to relax with thinking Morata is only one who has midas touch in CL.

Cavani has scored quite a few against Juventus (6 goals from what I can tell), fans might dislike him? I only see him in the Champions League and last time he scored this goal against Chelsea, he didn't look bad or worse than Morata really. A consistent goalscorer should actually be welcome. Alvaro shouldn't be going almost 4 months without scoring, even if he is assisting. Sort of makes me question why Real Madrid would use their clause.
