:agree:  I love his runs, his willingness to take on players, and his work rate. That goal was an epic fuck you to all his doubters/detractors.
Only player who is determined to get the ball into the opposition area. Gets the ball & initiates an attack immediately. I wish Coman got a cameo. When Tevez came on the game changed as he actually created more space for Morata.

It's nice that we finally have such a direct player who's goal is to run at defenders and make shit happen

But at the same time it's sad that not only is it such a strange sight after all these years, we had to wait for a kid to come along and do something nobody else has been able to, and add some direct play into our game.

The problem with llorente right now is that he cant create for himself and fails in build ups that dont involve one twos.

In this period of poor service and bad form...we need guys like morata who can make things happenon his own...badly.

If Allegri starts llorente vs Oly, we are out. As simple as that

Nice goal and good perforrmance. This guy should be starting every game from now on. He'll get better as this season progresses, exciting prospect. Great workrate and pace. Loves to take on his man as well.

Imagine a fast, direct winger to go along with Morata and Tevez :touched:

Just the beginning indeed

Yep we'd be mad to bench him right now. 2 goals in limited apps, and he obviously will improve big time with a steady run of starts, especially considering fat Rubinho forced him to miss most of the pre-season

Llorente scored 18 in 43; 23 in 51; 19 in 41; 29 in 53... in all competitions, in the 4 seasons prior to his benching. He never was a 30 goal scorer. He scored 18 in 45 for us last year. He's a 20-25 goals (in all comps) type forward when he's in best form. Which, considering he turns 30 in February, should be right now...

Still, I like Llorente, but...

Morata has the potential to be that, plus add much more to our attacking play. Morata has the potential to be an actual 30 goal forward.
Damn I missed it by 1 goal :D

Still my point stands. He was very good at Bilbao and we will benefit greatly if he ever returns to that kind of good form.
Morata is very good too and should start as long as llorente is out of form.

Llorente was a 30 goal per season striker at Bilbao. They ruined him when they benched him for a season. Last year he was on incredible form in the second half of the season. Your observation about his game applies to all giant target men except ibrahimovic. Toni for instance was an insanely good striker that either poached or headed the ball or held it then passed it.

Llorente needs to find his form.
I dont remember him scoring 30 goals per season..and his talents are extremely limited especially if we aren't throwing crosses into the box 24/7

Needs to start from now on, don't care what Llorente did before and how much space he used to create, because as far as this season goes he's been our most useless player. Morata on the other hand is extremely talented youngster, fantastic movement off the ball, quick, good dribbler, when given decent amount of playing time he'll deliver the goods.

am I the only one who thinks he'd be a good winger?
He certainly has pace for it and last season he started fair amount of games on the wings.

Finally the kid shows his true colors. I like forwards like Morata, he's a very all rounded one. Explosive and not afraid of trying. We've been missing a player like him for such a long time. Adds a lot of pace and directness to our play which we're lacking badly. Right now picking between him and Llorente is a very easy choice.

I love his movement and the way he's thinking. Yes he needs to improve his decision making but if he had more support upfront he'd look even better.

Fantastic goal. Gimme more kiddo, I'm counting on you.

i knew that some one will say that.. but seriously were was our $#@!in' attack players the guy was literally running on his own on the counter. and there was no support. very terrible performance from our team today.
There were a few occasions where he should have passed it in and a couple where he should have just hit it himself.

But given that we don't create any chances for our strikers and he can do it himself, the guy is a breath of fresh air.

It would be an act of premeditated murder not to start him against Olympiakos this week, but for some reason it wouldn't surprise me if it he doesn't...
Let's be honest, he won't start and here is why:
-Italian coaches play it safe, esp in CL...Llorente is the sure bet as he has more "experience".
-revert back to what worked last year, even if it isn't working this year
-having a target man that's larger than the greeks will trump a striker that's actually in some kind of form
-Tevez - llorente chemistry will be the excuse. Morata hasn't played with Tevez enough and can't risk that in such an important game
-risks = ebola to Italian coaches
-------

I'm sure you can add to the list.

Morata will be on the bench.

Our current best player.
Marchisio?
