i know, people like Ramos, Busqeuts or Boateng arent. but not everyone can start at 3 different top clubs, one of which is a champions league winning side. Mandzo is a star
Ramos is star. Mandzo unfortunately isn't. Being a star is all about that off pitch grandiose persona. Mandzo is a simple man and interviewers are shitting bricks when they talk to him. He goes straight to the point.

I think Mandzukic qualifies as a top signing. He regularly scored 20 goals per year when we got him. I love him and his grinta but 13 goals was a little disappointing. I think he will score more goals this year with Pjanic and Dani Alves additions.

When they were signed, only Tevez qualified as star signing, and that's due to his pedigree in overall, was still signed as bargain player who was (mentally) struggling in previous club.

Mandzukic is not a star attacker, he just isn't. Morata and Dybala were acquired as young top talents not stars.
Disagree entirely about Tevez vs Mandzu.

But in a way you won't expect. :p

Wait for it...

Okay...

Neither was a star signing. They have very similar pedigrees coming to Juventus. Players who had been at the very top, though Tevez much further removed. The obvious point with both is we would never have gotten them for basically 10 mil and 20 mil if they were still star attackers.

Kudos to us for seeing something others did not and realizing they could regain top form. Tevez looked like a top 5 attacker in his second season here...

And I actually expect us to see a Mandzu much closer to Bayern Mandzu who was definitely a star attacker, leading the front line of the treble winning side. We shall see though. We just need him to be a fucking menace on the pitch and bang in 18+ goals in all competitions.

13 goals ARE dissapointing for our main striker. Grinta and all included.

Remember this is the dude from Bayern who pissed on our backline
Yeah, a couple of years ago.

If Mandzukic qualifies as a 'top star' , you guys really think lowly of us as a club. Mandzukic is quality, reliable player but star is something else.

Exactly! He is definitely has some quality in him but he is no Cavani nor Higuain when it comes to being prolific! and please dont come and tell me the difference is very little as the difference is definitely not little and thats why we got him for 20M and Cavani and Higuain would cost 50M or more

Lets not dwell on the obvious of Mandzukic not being a star, and see if there is ANY reason for this thread to remain open? Any rumours? Otherwise we are just being wishful numbnuts like Man U fans. Except they atleast have stupid money to throw away at unlikely players lol.

Some entertaining comments I read on dailymail from insulted Arsenal fans.

"One of the best players in the world and they r bidding 30m?? Haha! Why would u leave arsenal for juve?"

"Problem is we have more money than Juventus. They are paupers compared to us. We should go and buy one of their key players for 40-50M for this insult."

"I'm officially hate juve for they shameful act. What a stingy club like an old lady always looking for a bargain groceries"

"I can't see Alexis moving to such a pub league, and deffo not for only £30 mil."

"This guy the best player in the continental America this year and Juventus currently demanding €120m for donkey Pogba but bid €35m for Alexis Sanchez? How pathetic and sad is this of Juventus! If your donkey Pogba is worth €120m then Sanchez is above Pogba in every footballing aspect!"

Some witty ones too...

"Pathetic effort from Juventus, all they had to do was add one pound to £30m. Absolutely disgusted by their effort."

"Juve are always under cutting the market . Be offering pasta and pizza next"

"They could get two Jordan Ibes for that price"
They complain about this, but Arsenal is also known as being stingy, despite having more money.
The difference is despite Beppe's stinginess that occasionally frustrates us all and allows him to miss key opportunities, the overall result is that the team he has built is miles better than the current Arsenal squad, with our top 4 or 5 players worth more than the entire Arsenal squad in actual bids (Pogba - 120, Dybala - 80, Bonucci - ~60), with a fraction of the capital invested by Arsenal.

Beppe is the king of Return on Invested Capital.

Juve: 'Arsenal won't sell Alexis'
By Football Italia staff

“Arsenal told us Alexis Sanchez is not on the market,” reveals Juventus director Beppe Marotta, even after being quoted a €40m price-tag.

The rumours linking Juve with a swoop for Sanchez have been around for several week, ever since Real Madrid activated their buy-back clause on Alvaro Morata.

“Sanchez is a great player, but Arsenal told us he is not on the market,” Juventus chief Marotta told El Mercurio newspaper in Chile.

“We had asked for the player’s price-tag and Arsenal valued him at €40m, a sum that we considered reasonable.

“However, once we replied to their demand, the English club let us know that he was not for sale.”

Sanchez is only under contract with the Gunners until June 2018.

The €40m price-tag currently translates to £34m, but it’s possible the figure was quoted before the Brexit vote – when the value of the pound plummeted.
