I'd see Poli as far more of a backup for Marchisio than Pirlo.
I've really seen very little of the chap, though have often intended to. Injury prone and technically suited to a box to box role???? The attempt to get him in January seemed pretty solid, with paperwork and timing preventing the move going through, which leads me to expect him in the Summer.
Sanchez/Jovetic, Poli, CB and...we need a vice pirlo. Could Veratti be prized away?

Would Sanchez be classed more as a creative, gnarly direct, pacy midget, content to take a few knocks and loves to take players on, but with suspect finishing skills???

Don't rate Alexis sanchez that high even before his move to Barca personally I thought he won't have a real impact there. If you guys think Giovinco has a problem in scoring goals then we'll have a similar problem with Alexis too.

I'd rather we sign someone like Jovetic who can make a real difference in our team

Wouldn't go as far as to consider him box-to-box.

He gets about the pitch reasonably, but he's not going to cover the ground as much or as well as Marchisio does when it comes to defensive work.

Is he particularly injury prone?

Yeah, I think the whole world is assuming he'll be a Juve player come next season.

I'd be pissed if we sign only Llorente for the attack. He was already secured in January, and we have the whole summer to get the signing of the SS right.

Only Llorente, while being stuck with the likes of Gio, Quag, and Matri is hardly an upgrade. The minimum expectation should be Sanchez, and the impossible dream is Suarez. Jovetic is obviously a realistic target, even if he will be a bit harder to lure than Sanchez.

Indeed. Folks love Sanchez just because he's a hard worker. But we need better.

Oh, and because he's friends with BadassJew.

Buck,

If you think we'll only sign Llorente for our attack you must be mad. I doubt Conte will accept having a mediocre attack next year.
Where did I say that?

All I'm thinking is that our "big signing" for the summer may very well be Llorente. Considering what he's going to earn and all.
Doesn't exactly mean there'll be no other attacking arrivals, does it?

Let me get this straight. You'd be pissed because we signed him months in advance? So had we only secured him in the summer, it would be perfectly fine if he was the only attacker to arrive?

Besides, maybe not pissed, but you'd be disappointed regardless of what happens in the mercato ;)

Buck,

If Llorente had cost us 20 million I'd then agree I couldn't see us signing another top player for attack, however his wages will be mostly covered by Iaquinta leaving and again we have in theory saved 20 million on a transfer fee, which we offered last summer.

It also comes down to define what a top player is, for me that's the likes of Suarez, Aguero etc. Sanchez with what's being reported sounds to be realistic with transfer fees and wages. I maybe misunderstood you in you were saying we'll just probably bring back Immobile or Gabbiadini and that will be the market done for the attack, with what the clubs says that they want to win the champions league and Conte being ambitious I personally cannot see that scenario happening. This year we've had to rely most on a injured Vucinic at crucial times, he's not getting fitter or younger, I also believe Conte has mentioned on numerous interviews we miss the type of player who can split a defence when the scoreline is deadlocked.

I've watched him with Barca plenty of times and I feel he needs a direct playing fast buildup Mourinho-like game plan rather than a ball control based game like ours. I think he would struggle the way giovinco is, not to mention that he has definitely lost his shooting boots. I would only get him when its on the cheap.

I dont think that Sanchez would flop here, because he is hard working player.Conte likes that type and like with Vidal and Lichsteiner, he maximize their usfulness

Problem is, you need more than hardworking players to really upgrade our team. In the past, we generaly had most of our team consist of hard working players with atleast 2-3 technically/skillfull players (del piero, zidane....). IMO we don't have that kind of players in our current team and thats what's really is missing right now.

Alexis is skilled but his problem is he seems to be out of Ideas in most games that I've seen him in. I've seen him many times dribbling 1-2 players till he gets to edge of the box, looks around and pass the ball back. Very rarely that I've seen him doing something in that tight space in the last 18 yard of the pitch. Add the fact that he's a pretty average Goal-scorer (Giovinco's syndrome). Rather we pass on him and try for a Jovetic/aguero type of players better.

Someone posted this on the Barca forum:

Barcelona sources deny that Alexis is for sale or that Juventus have made a bid, however they don't rule out that Juventus have started talks with the player.

Interesting.
