neither can we any more
Sarcasm. Big clubs have to pay a lot for good players, and give them good wages. Buying a player at a high standing is one thing, trying to get a decent amount of your transfer fee back and shift a failed player on big wages is another. Market value in football is heavily based on form and standing.

Sanchez plans Barcelona stay
By Football Italia staff

Alexis Sanchez has reacted to transfer links with Inter and Juventus by committing his future to Barcelona.

Both Italian giants are said to be keen on the Chilean international who could be made available for transfer this summer.

“I am calm,” he told La Vanguardia on Friday. “I am focused on the Champions League matches, I want to win and I want to fulfil my contract which ends in 2016.

“For me, Barca is an education as a club. This is a club that teaches you a lot, as a person and a player, a club that takes care of both and in which I hope to learn as much as I can and to push myself to the maximum.”

The 24-year-old is having a problematic second season at the Camp Nou following his move from Udinese, a club who netted around €40m through his sale.

“I think I can give much more,” the forward underlined. “When I scored 15 goals last season nobody said anything.

“This year I have six goals and there have been opinions from everyone, some strong, and some bad, but others have been okay.

“But I have to have confidence in my ability and I have to move on.”

This kid needs to accept that his Cinderella fantasy with Barcelona has finished.
