Wrong analogy. If Di Vaio or Di Natale were of Hamsik' age, far more clubs would be after them and they would be most probably considered as better players.

I'm not saying that comparing the number of goals is a right way to say who's the better player especially when the two players are not playing in the same position though.

I actually agree with what you are saying but the analogy is wrong because you picked the wrong examples. When you are to specify that a factor (scoring goals) is not necessarily relevant to a conclusion (being the better player) you need to fix the other relevant factors such as age.
