I agree with all of those comments Tom.

I would also advise anyone against trying to enter a debate on DP with Azzurri7, it soon degenerates into BS.

I can't really remember a game this season when Juve have had 2 strikers who have both played well and carried an attacking threat.

Usually it has been Zlatan who poses the most threat, but alongside him DP or Trez or Zala has been relatively ineffective. There have been occasions when DP has looked good, but then the other striker (be it Zlatan or whoever) has underperformed.

Despite this, Juve are still challenging on all fronts. If they had 2 forwards capable of combining and being a danger to the opposition then they would be way ahead of Milan.

I just hope next season we don't have to rely on DP, because I feel he no longer has the quality to perform consistantly for Juve. He shows the odd spark (usually against the smaller teams) but that is it.

That is why I pray Mutu is up to the job, or that we get Cassano - yes he acts like a knob at times, but at least he is a threat to the opposition. I'd prefer an idiot in the team who actually plays well, to 'nice guy' DP who tends to play well...once in every 4 games.

I'm not going to refute those comments Tom,but don't you think that was just a little too much?

I mean,if our top scorer this season is THAT bad, imagine the standard of the league we must be playing in...
well said.

Played Goals Scored Goals against

Milan 67 50 18
Juventus 67 50 19

Our Forwards are as strong as Milans and our Top Scorer is Del Piero. I dont know where the problem is. You guys cant accept that Del Piero is at the moment one of the best in our team.

just a thought. when in previous seasons del piero was criticised for the lack of goals the fact used by his defenders that he has fair share of assists was often dismissed as irrelevant and useless. now zlatan's defenders use the same argument and no one is questioning it, somehow assists became more important this season.

and ffs, people are saying that capello should play zalayeta with zlatan isntead of del piero. get a grip!

urgh!!!
some of you still don't understand. Instead of DP there could be Thuram and he would still score so many times as DP did. Most of the goals were set by Zlatan & co. and DP just pushed the ball in. What im trying to say is, that there is no sense of having player with such a wage in attack.

Exactly. Just like we couldn't attack Zlatan two months ago for he was our top scorer, but now it's dismissed that Del Piero is our leading goal scorer.

I don't think Del Piero has been entirely bad this season, however some people tend to blow things out of proportion.

Can you not see how you contradict yourself? You are the biggest hypocrite I have ever met.

I'm fed up of DP 'disappearing' in the big games, that's all. I want a striker we can rely on to perform consistantly and to provide some threat to the opposition.

DP rarely does this. Zlatan is the only forward we have that does, maybe that's why he's reportedly being offered a contract extension?

I just can't put up with another year of being disappointed with DP's performances....well, I can....but I don't want to.

a) Skillful
b) Intelligent player
c) AWESOME fk specialist
d) very good finisher
e) good team player

Now looking at that list, I've no doubts he's still an intelligent footballer (and person probably but thats beside the point) - however the others are simply not true. He is a liability to the team - Zlatan and Zala are much better together. He doesn't appear to have any skills in his locker save the ultra-predictable ones that even Jamie Carragher can read. He hasn't scored a proper freekick in eons, his shot power is equivalent to that of an elderly woman with two left feet, and physically, he's an absolute pitiful specimen. He can't match ANYONE for strength and never seems to make an impression againt even half decent defences.

He's past his best, way past his best in fact and the sooner people can admit that then these pointless debates can be over with and we can discuss more important matters like Buffon's hair.
He's not a good team player anymore, although in some games he lets the team flow. And it's true that his free kicks aren't great anymore. As for the finishing, I don't think he ever was a great finisher. He was a good finisher, but he wasn't a great finisher. But he's still as skillful as ever and still as intelligent as he once was. Why? Because you simply can't lose those two skills. The thing is that he's too slow and weak to profit from these two skills. You have to have some speed and you have to be standing to benefit from those two things. Yet he IS our topscorer, that's a fact. So something Del Piero does, has got to be good.

That quite simply is a lie. Zlatan is not consistent.

Actually, you are right...I meant he does tend to perform in the big games, I just didn't put it very well. I agree that he can drift in and out of games, but he will always do something in a match - and he does rise to the occasion.

But I think his consistancy will improve with time.

What are you asking from DP???????????

He made as goals as Zlatan and you say that Zlatan is a striker. Including CL DP made more goals than Zlatan. And Zlatan is also not constant. What shall DP do so that you and your friends do not critise him????????????

PS.: Against Fiorintina he was in 2 goals of 3 involved and that was last week.

Do you know how many times Zlatan assisted for the goals and he scored 12 goals for my opinion that is superb for the first season in Serie A and the season isn't over yet
