The point is Huntelaar is gone as of June according to the player himself. Had it none been for Mourinho's departure there was no doubt where he was going. Now it's between Chelsea and Juve. Either Huntelaar will push to follow his coach or Ajax will honour their agreement with Secco. Either way the 2010 stuff is meaningless, he's gone

Ten Cate might want to get Huntelaar. Huntelaar has never said he is gone this june though.
He hinted at it several times. Did you read the interview he gave in Voetbal International two weeks ago?

He said he wants to leave Ajax with a title. He said the level of Eredivisie is getting too low for him and he wants to step up to a higher level. When asked about where he'd like to go, he said
"Well, there are some great clubs out there, AC Milan, ManU, Barça, Real..."
Later in the interview he also hinted that he wanted to go to a club that hasn't won anything since a while and offer the supporters new success.

We would qualify for that, no? And the fact that he didn't mention Juve nor Chelsea probably means he knows there is contact with them and he wants to be very cautious about it.

No it's not off. I know the interview I posted was in Italian but he states...he's gone. That's from the horses mouth...

well so far he seems to be doing extraordinarily well and has built a reputation. he does seem to have a fearless and easy going demeanour about him...like a cross between a lethal lawyer and a suave businessman

it is about time that folk gave Secco a bit of credit.

He didn't do brilliantly, he isn't necessarilly to thank for our good start, but he did do a decent job, especially when you consider his lack of experience.

What does he deserve credit for though? Signing free agents who either had friends at Juventus or nowhere else to go? Missing out on the main target in central defense only to purchase someone who promptly becomes injured yet again? Agreeing to purchase a player our manager apparently doesn't even know how to use? Giving Udinese a fairly large sum of money for a backup striker who wanted to join Juventus?

Whether he's Luciano Moggi or George W. Bush, he should receive the same grading scale. What Alessio Secco did this summer on the transfer market was nothing that any other general manager in Italy couldn't do provided the same resources. So I don't see how Secco deserves any credit as of right now.

Funny thing is, other than Iaquinta none of our signings have had any major influence on how the team's doing at this point. We're practically playing as good as we are utilizing the same players we had in Serie B.

Ranieri deserves the credit for that, but he has got to implement some of these new signings so it wasn't an entire loss this past summer.
