An interesting piece. I wasn't really sure where to put it but here is as good as anywhere I suppose.

Blog: Blame game

Following Juve’s recent performances, the fickle finger of blame is being pointed everywhere. Dave Taylor believes the buck should stop at the top

With Juve fans blaming Gigi Buffon, Mauro Camoranesi blaming his teammates and everyone blaming Coach Claudio Ranieri, obviously something is wrong with La Vecchia Signora.

However, despite their recent stutter, Ranieri still claims the Scudetto race is far from over. Yet perhaps that is one of the reasons Juve are faltering, as, like many in the Juve hierarchy, he is not prepared to face the harsh truth that the team have no real defence.

Lets face it, how many of the current crop would live with the likes of Antonio Cabrini, Antonello Cuccureddu, Claudio Gentile and Gaetano Scirea – stars from the late 1970’s and early 1980’s Scudetti winning sides? Later in the 1990’s, as they lifted the European Cup, Juve possessed real defenders like Paolo Montero, Moreno Torricelli, Gianluca Pessotto and Ciro Ferrara. It wasn’t too long ago that Fabio Cannavaro, Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta ruled the roost.

Simply put Zdenek Grygera, Olof Mellberg and Cristian Molinaro are not on the same planet. Those great teams from the past were all built from the back. I mean, could you see Cabrini & Co allowing Chievo to score three past them? This is the mighty Juventus, the winners of a record 27 Scudetti and fans are sick and tired of getting the run around from so-called lesser teams.

However, although Ranieri is the Coach, it appears that the majority of the blame should lie with Alessio Secco. The Sporting Director will have to get it right this summer and concentrate on bringing in top defenders if they want to pull back Inter. Since the new Juventus rose from the ashes only one of his buys, Momo Sissoko, has shown any real quality.

Regarding today’s defence, perhaps Giorgio Chiellini could play with those wonderful heroes of yesterday – but only as a substitute coming on from the bench.

Juve can’t, and won’t, win anything while Ranieri continues as Coach. If he can’t, or won’t, stand up to Secco he needs to leave. Juve also need to rid themselves of Mellberg, Dario Knezevic, Jorge Andrade, Molinaro and Grygera.
Why buy midfielders and forwards when they already have players like Sebastian Giovinco, Paolo De Ceglie, Cristiano Zanetti and Camoranesi – who still has at least one good season left in him – and a top strike force. Okay, maybe a defensive midfielder, but not a Diego or David Silva at this point.

As much as I like Antonio Cassano, is he what the club needs right now? No, he isn’t. That is as plain as the lack of credibility in Ranieri’s words, sound-bytes spoken while his team sits nine points behind Inter.

Although the theory behind the blog I agree with, not all of it is accurate IMO. Sissoko is the only Secco transfer playing well? I forgot, is Amauri on Juventus or still on Palermo?

Generally, I agree with the blog that we won't win anything with Ranieri as coach and the same players we have at the back. Now if we get rid of those neanderthals at the back and bring in some real quality there, and in midfield, we could win something with Ranieri. But the problem is Del Piero, Trezeguet and Camoranesi are all getting older and older, so time is running out.

Secco is not entirely to blame though. He's one of the bigger pieces to the puzzle, yes, but not the whole puzzle.

Secco: «We cannot remain silent»
The controversial decisions taken by the referee are hard to digest and even a team like Juventus, known for accepting such decisions, cannot remain silent on such occasions. Alessio Secco, the Sports Director of the bianconeri was clearly taken aback by the refereeing of the match against Genoa.
«Genoa played a good match but i think this time we cannot remain silent about the episodes like the goal disallowed to Iaquinta and another episode was the first goal of Genoa which was allowed after the referee had blown his whistle stopping the action. These two episodes conditioned the match.Probably even the penalty denied to Camoranesi. It is not normal for us to appeal against the decisions of referees but this time we cannot remain silent. After the first half things continued with the excessive sending-off of Camoranesi who should have been shown a yellow card.»
The next match is the one against Inter: «We must remain calm like we did in the first part of the championship. The only way to re-emerge is with hard work and we will get back to working hard on Monday afternoon. There is also the Coppa Italia to play for.»
Juventus suffered six goals in two matches : «We are conceding too many gals recently and this is a problem which the coach will have to solve with hard work. We have total confidence in Mr. Ranieri and we are sure he will manage to solve this problem».

:wallbang:

You best take responsibility in these matters as well, oh magnificent transfer guru, and fucking negotiate some deals for quality defenders already...

Fucking Secco.

As for the rest of it, yes, the refereeing was absolutely pathetic...

Alessio Secco: I've struck gold.

Juventus' transfer guru Alessio Secco has struck a deal with Liverpool for the highly experienced defender Sami Hyypia. ''I've been tracking Sami for several seasons now and can officially confirm that he will be weaing the Bianconeri shirt next season'' Sami hyypia is a long term admirer of the Bianconeri since childhood and said he would like to follow in the footsteps of Jean-Alain Boumsong. Wearing the Black and White shirt of a massive club like Juve fills me with such joy. I cannot wait to fuck their season up. Im the man. Yadda Yadda Yadda! Im better than Mellberg and grygera put together. I am Juventus.

the team plays like shit, coach fudges up the rest of it, we get a weak ass penalty and he complains about the ref. He could be right diverting the attention but the guy is annoying as hell.

Yeah, a real cunundrum. Genoa had a perfect mercato in being able to bring in 18 new players, 9 of them starters, well in the budget and all being improvements. Inter wasting twice of Genoa on two wingers who turned out to be shit, and Muntari who has been frigging awful. But SOMEHOW they lead 16 pts over Genoa, WTF???? Someone call Hercule Poirot.
