Juve stick with Champions list Sunday February 1, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus have made no changes to their Champions League squad, despite the fact Cristiano Zanetti could be out for the season.

The midfielder pulled up during last night’s 3-2 defeat to Cagliari and the initial diagnosis suggests he has damaged the same thigh muscle that kept him out for four months.

He had only just made his comeback, so it is likely Zanetti will be sidelined for at least another two months.

Giorgio Chiellini also risks sitting on the sidelines for four weeks after falling prey to a similar setback.

Long-term injury absentees Jonathan Zebina and Tiago Mendes are also included along with David Trezeguet, who is working his way back to fitness after a double knee tendon operation.

If Juve do buy any new players before the January transfer window closes on Monday evening, they will not be available for the Champions League.

Juventus squad: Buffon, Chiellini, Mellberg, Zebina, Zanetti, Salihamidzic, Amauri, Iaquinta, Del Piero, Nedved, Chimenti, Manninger, Knezevic, Camoranesi, Trezeguet, Poulsen, Marchisio, Giovinco, Grygera, Sissoko, Molinaro, De Ceglie, Tiago, Marchionni, Legrottaglie

They could have taken off Chimenti for Ekdal if they really wanted Zanetti in there right? That still leaves us with Gigi, Manny and both Primavera keepers.

Chiellini is still included because he'll be playing in the 2nd leg. The list can't be changed or updated between the 1st leg to into the 2nd, thats why Chiellini is still on the list.

Don't know about Zanetti though.

I'm talking about Chimenti. They could have scratched him off for Ekdal and still keep Zanetti while having both Primavera keepers ready in case something drastic happens right?

I think Secco deserves an award for his great signings during the past three seasons, i mean Knezevic, Tiago, Molinaro, Marchionni, Poulsen, Melberg you cannot get any better than this.

Knezevic come to juve on loan,he is injured 90% of this season which means that we wont keep him, actually he only made 3-4 appearances and we cannot be so sure about his ability...and btw we didnt spend for him as much as we did for Andrade.
Tiago had difficulties to adjust in Italy but as soon as we started to show some potential he got injured.
We owned Molinaro for more than 5 years and we just brought him back buying the other 50% 1 1/5 year ago..he was intended to be back up for Chiellini in the left back then...i you ask me currenlty its not the left back position our weakest part.
Marchionni just like Zanetti were Moggis last transfers
Poulsen reminds me Tiago, during the first year he plays a little, only as sub and has problems to find his form and fitness
Mellberg....thank God we got him to cover the holes in our defence....imagine our current defence without Mellberg now that Zebina,Knezevic,Andrade,Chiellini are injured.
