He won't match Trez's records because he was surrounded by top class talent. Trez was getting crosses put on a silver platter from Camo & Nedved coupled with Del Piero of his prime right next to him game in game out.

Matri, on the other hand, has players around him that struggle to get him the ball and has to work a lot harder for goals.

He has done great so far, but another 250 games from now you won't be seeing the same percentage.

Matri's positioning/awareness is elite but he does lack that touch of speed/and or technique. I wonder how much the temptation will be to chase a Higuain,Benzema type when we hit Europe.

We need to get ride of Toni, IQ, and Amauri...maybe even Quag before we can afford the likes of Benz/Higuain.

Vucinic has been a bit down in form lately, so I don't understand why we can't see a Quag - Matri performance.

I don't see why we'd have to sell Quag in order to see a WC striker. Getting rid of Toni, Iaquinta and Amauri. And our legend, our love, our heart, Del Piero leaving after this season should be enough to make room for a WC striker.

Dzeko anyone? :weee:

Totally agreed. An attack consisting of Matri, Quag & Vucinic with the addition of Benzema or Higuain would be faptastic imo. I doubt Dzeko would come, he's settling in nicely & earning the money he makes doesn't hurt either.

That's the issue though. I think at this stage, we would look to upgrade Quag first with someone like JoJo. Matri and Vuci will probably get one year in Europe to prove themselves as the central striker and then we will see.

We should look for a better player than Quagliarella, but that doesn't mean we'd need to sell him. Quag is a solid player and if rotated properly he could do a lot of damage.

There's no reason why we should have less than 4 solid strikers.

Matri - Jovetic to start, Vucinic & Quag to back them up?

433

Jojo-Matri-Mirko

Quagz can fill in any role on the front 3 when needed.

Don't you think you're discussing the formation a bit too soon? Elia/Krasic/Estigarribia still need to be properly sorted out before we see whether to ditch wingers completely.

It'll probably be for the best to have players capable of fitting into two formations (4-4-2/4-3-3) like we do currently.

    No.

Elia/Esti can play in the 433 as well. It isn't that much of a problem adjusting the formation mid-play either. Krasic should probably be the one to go.

What kind of crackheads are comparing the good-but-not-exactly-legendary Matri to Legend Trezeguet? Who do I have to hit in the side of the head with a brick to knock some sense into them?
