I read the last few pages. First of all, how old are you, Nic? I'm not asking that for mocking you or something, i really wanna know.

Two points:

1. I don't think that you understand the definition of WC player. There are many wc players in the world, not only one or two. Some guys here tried to explain it to you, so I won't say the same things. Saying that DP wasn't never a WC is really one of the most stupid things i've ever read in Juventuz. Even DP haters will tell you he was a world class player, and you can still see this every time he touches the ball.

2. I don't think you understand how great was DP before the Injury. Saying that he was a WC player is understatement, he probably was the best player in the world. Like today it's C.Ronaldo vs. Messi, then it was Ronaldo (the original) vs. Ale. Not Baggio (he was great with Bologna, but definetly not the best in the world), not Batistuta (amazing striker, but come on) and not Zidane (wasn't that great back then). Believe me. Ale was so good, that people in Italy hoped he'll bring them the World Cup in 1998.

He wasn't only an amazing player, but a real celebrity all over the world (because he was such a great player, of course). Like C.Ronaldo today (i'm not saying Messi, cause girls don't dream about him at nights :D ). Why do you think even today, when he's 36, he's one of the most loved and appreciated footballers in the world? Why do you think young players like Pastore (and he's from Argentina, not Italy) say that he's a genius, an Idol for them and an inspiration, and that it was a dream to meet him? Del Piero pre-injury was...WOW. That's the reason he has so many fans all over the world. How do you think I became DP fan? Back in 1996, I didn't know anything about him. There was no Internet to read interviews with him or stuff like that. Some matches were on TV, some not, sometimes I just read in the newspaper that Juve won and he scored. If there was a pic too, I was so happy. I didn't know anything about him but his skills. The moment I saw him playing, I became his fan. And right now, I really can't believe I need to explain someone why DP is a WC player. Debate if he was\wasn't world's best- maybe. But WC? are you kidding me? It's Alex DP FFS.

Forza Ale

Last thing, cause I know you guys like Channel4-Football Italia:

"Sure, he’s no longer the player of 1998 when he was arguably the world’s best – yes, he was that good – but in a game where ordinariness is often escalated to grandeur, the boy from Conegliano can still make a difference".
