Lately there were lots of talks considering the replacement of Matri ( with Higuain, Torres....). I think it's little bit harsh and undeserved treat for Matri.

Never been a fan of Matri but looking at his stats with us so far the man scored 19 goals in 38 games that a rate of .5 or ( a goal in every 2 games played), that's a pretty solid number IMO.

Problem with our team is that those who are around him barely score goals anymore. Vucinic blows hot and cold all season long and hardly contributes in goals, both Pepe and Marchisio used to score decent number of goals at the beginning of the season and now all of a sudden they've stopped scoring !

I think we should replace other players in other positions in the team before even thinking of replacing this guy.

Well said mate. His goal scoring record is pretty damn solid for us, and I feel he is quite under rated. Yes his dribbling and close control suck, but the guy has good movement, deceptive pace and is a decent finisher - despite what many on here will have you believe.

Piss poor today. Either he's diving a la Borriello all the time or he's struggeling to control the ball.

It's been like that for a couple of matches in a row now.

Man I'm so annoyed by his shit playing lately. He dives, whines, complains all the time. He can't hold the ball one second. Why does he play ahead of Quag?

We really need a real striker.

It's got to do with his confidence. Its not easy to feel like the world is at your feet after being benched by Borriello despite scoring a goal. That said, I think Quag needs a run in now. He got some game time but we completely stopped pressing after the 75th minute.

What has confidence to do with complaining and diving?

Could be, dunno.

I think Matri would suit a system thats more based on counterattacks than on possession football. Considering positioning is his strength and not anything else.

He has been doing this all season, nothing to do with confidence.

He also has 4-5 yellow cards because of complaining and protesting.
He may have 5 yellow cards, but he hasn't been so lax all season. He's been a lot better than this, and for a CF more than anybody, confidence makes a huge difference. It's not easy to get a goal and see the bench for a couple of games after that despite having ten more goals than the person replacing you. Again last night, we had 4 mids on the scoresheet in a 5 goal game, all of this adds pressure on a forward. It may not seem like the case, but you can see it in his body language and frustration and how after every close miss he constantly glances at the bench wondering what Conte's reaction is.

Frustration at the lack of continuity despite scoring.

Matri's still the best we have. Quag doesn't finish quite as well or run the same way. He's more withdrawn.
He's not got enough game time this season to warrant a fair comparison. But I think he's a more mobile, agile forward and a slicker finisher, though I agree Matri has been our best finisher this season.
