Give Me Milan-Gilardino
7/6/2005 5:10:00 PM
Upon his return to Italy from his Mexican summer vacation, Parma striker Alberto Gilardino made it very clear he wants to play with the Rossoneri next season.

“Milan are my preferred lane in this moment. There is mutual respect between both sides, but I can’t exclude other teams might end up signing me in the end,” said Italy’s hottest prospect.

“I didn’t expect things to take so long. I was sure that by the time I had returned from vacation I would already have a new team. I hope Parma can meet my demands,” he added.

Gilardino is almost surely an AC Milan player even though nothing is 100% certain yet, especially now that the Rossoneri signed former Inter striker Christian Vieri for the next two seasons.

Milan's strikers are all aging bastards, so he knows he will be the star there in the future. Whereas at Juve, as long as Trezeguet is there, he won't want to come.

NO i think he knows that he could take Trezegols spot easy. Gilardino in my opinion is worlds better than Trez and he has proved himself at a smaller club whereas trez has only played at bigger clubs his whole career

Gilardino: Let me join Milan Wednesday 6 July, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alberto Gilardino has again asked Parma to sell him to Milan but Juventus could still hijack the deal.

The striker returned from his short break in Mexico today and immediately outlined his hopes for his future.

"At this moment in time I am still a Parma player," said the Italian international, who celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday.

"I have clear ideas inside of me. Milan is my preferred path but I can’t exclude the fact that other clubs can come forward."

Gilardino was hoping to have his transfer completed by now, but the Stadio Tardini outfit understandably want to get as much money for him as possible.

"I didn’t expect it to drag on like this," added the former Piacenza and Verona youngster. "I thought it would have been resolved after the play-off game against Bologna.

"I hope that Parma help me out because there is great friendship there and I want to leave on the right terms. I know my desire can be decisive."

Although Milan seem to be in pole position, his agent Beppe Bonetto has failed to rule out a Juventus switch.

"Milan remain at the front of the grid and they remain in the thoughts of Alberto," stated the representative.

"Christian Vieri’s transfer to Milan isn’t a problem as he is a replacement for Hernan Crespo.

"Talks are still going on but there is just £2.5m difference between what Milan are offering and the £22m that Parma want.

"However, we often have contact with Juventus even if there has never been an offer from Chelsea."

Inter are another contender to sign Gilardino as Nerazzurri chief Massimo Moratti has again confirmed.

"He is a player worthy of a great club," he stated. "There is just one problem and that is the expense involved.

"A lot has happened in this game and something could occur right at the very end when the costs of the operation may be forgotten."

In other transfer news, midfielder Tomas Locatelli has left Bologna for Siena on a three-year deal.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As u see nothing is official, I doubt Gila would hesitate to take our offer when it comes. Im sure after the Trezeguet deal comes through, we will immeiately get Gila.

Im not surprised if Gila is already verbally ours right now. Moggi has been denying interest and Juve have really shown no interest in Gila which means they are making the move. :D (fingers crossed)

Of course Gilardino wants Milan because he wants to be a regular starter. In Juventus he has Trezeguet as an obstacle, if he leaves he will be wanting Juventus again.

Shouldnt that really be speaking for his talent as a Centre Forward?
As regards Gila, well i dont know how you can say he is worlds ahead of Trezeguet, unless of course, youv've seen him play on pluto. Seriously, i think Trez is a gifted finisher and perfectly suits his role at Juve. Gila, on the other hand is actually going to find out his temperament and talent on a bigger stage than an almost relgated Parma. Its only after seeing him at a Milan or a Juve playing against their level of competition in Europe, can one make an honest deduction of his talent, even if the potential is there.

I think Gila is well aware, that if Juve make a bid for him, it will only be as a replacement for Trezeguet. So being part of the squad along with Trezeguet isnt even an issue if you ask me. In addition, i think its insulting enough that he hasnt even mentioned Juve, and relegated them to the category of 'other clubs' vying for his signature. I say let him go to Milan. And id be more than happy to see us bring in Cassano instead.

I think that Cassano has more future than Gilardino in the club too.

Thats insane, who he would prefere Milan because he knows he will be a starter when Sheva,Pippo and Vieri will try to grab his place,
i believe he will find a place at Juve's first eleven much easier,
esp if we sell Treze, anyway we wont make a moove for him with Treze on board,
he is sad of Juve because we didnt make an official offer
and maybe because Moggi stated Treze is a better player than him

u know..i have to agree.
how can he NOT prefer juve over milan when it is well known that he is a juve fan.and he belongs to a family of hard core juve fans.
the only thing over here is the offer.
he's a young lad,and he's nervous about his future so he wants it out sorted asap, and just because milan have been showing so much interest in him, that is why he wants to go there rite now.
i have no doubt in my mind, that when juve do make an offer for gilarindo,he wud come to turin and not milan.

It seems you are a DP lover.
Even if he is, I see the sense in his post..

from all our forwards, we only have one out-and-out striker/finisher, and that's trez, and then we have 5 forwards.. We'd need gilardino more than we need cassano..
