Gilardino plots Juve shock
Monday 9 May, 2005
Alberto Gilardino has warned Juventus that Parma intend to upset the League leaders on Sunday.

The Bianconeri are just three games away from lifting the title after moving three points clear of Milan on Sunday.

But Gilardino insists his Tardini outfit aren’t going to the Delle Alpi resigned to losing the Week 36 game.

"We will give our all with the aim of causing them some problems," the striker told TG5. "After all, we still need points to ensure survival. We are not going there for a walk in the park."

The Italian international is hoping to keep his side in Serie A before he leaves Parma in the summer.

"I want to join a side that is capable of winning major honours and play in front of 70,000 people," he replied when asked about his future.

"If I did join a big club then I would fight with great determination in an effort to grab a starting shirt.

"That already happened here at Parma when I had two phenomenal players such as Adriano and Adrian Mutu ahead of me."

Gilardino has been linked with the likes of Milan and Inter but a foreign switch could also be on the cards.

"If I had to move abroad then I would prefer to speak Spanish rather than English," he added.

The forward is also believed to be of interest to Real Madrid and Chelsea

Well, he aint coming here then, thats for sure :D

Yeah this was my reaction when I read that news, I guess he really doesn't want to go to Juve and mentioning that figure is a clear sign!

Parma set Gilardino fee Monday 9 May, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Parma have told admirers of Alberto Gilardino that he will cost a massive £35m on the transfer market.

The Italian international is expected to leave the Gialloblu in the summer but his suitors will have to dig deep into their pockets.

"We sold Adriano to Inter for 50m Euros and Gilardino, who has more impressive numbers than the Brazilian, can’t be worth any less," said director Luca Baraldi.

"No other Italian player has scored with the same consistency as Gilardino has over the past two seasons."

The former Piacenza youngster netted 23 League goals last term and has 22 to his name so far this season.

Milan, Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea have been associated with the new star of Italian football.

IMO, he is not worthy half of that price. Let Milan have him.
Does this make Adriano the third most expensive player in football history??

I don't think one can pay someone to be entusiastic. That kind of motivation come from heart and situation helps too (relegation).

no... inter did not pay 50m€ as they ownd the half of him...
inter got him for 25m€ (the 50% of him, wich means he was 50m€ worth), but that parma director just wanted to tell everyone that gila is not going for a low price...

I love how Trezeguet scores the game winner against Milan, and everyone who was bashing him before the Milan game begins to praise him immediately after the game. Only a few of us supported Trez through the whole season, regardless of form, while everyone else wanted to ditch him for Cassano or Gilardino.

Milan are also saying that he is too expensive for them, there are only the big spenders Inter that are willing to pay that much for a player, but I see Parma lowering his price tag.

Gilardino too pricey for Milan Wednesday 11 May, 2005

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan have told Parma that they will not meet their £35m asking price for star striker Alberto Gilardino.

The Rossoneri were believed to be in pole position for the Italian international but his valuation now seems to be a major stumbling block.

"All transfer negotiations are on hold until the end of the season," said chief Adriano Galliani. "However, the figures I’ve been reading about are out of the question."

Milan’s reluctance to dig so deep into their pockets will allow other clubs to join the chase as Parma have admitted.

"I would say that Milan, Juventus and Inter all have an equal chance of netting Gilardino," administrator Luca Baraldi stated on Italian television last night.

The reigning Italian champions may now look elsewhere for a new attacker, with two men freshly linked on Wednesday.

The first is Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta who has enjoyed a wonderful season at the Stadio Friuli.

Yet boss Carlo Ancelotti is also a fan of Palermo target man and Italian international Luca Toni.

Meanwhile, Milan are set to meet with their Chelsea counterparts on Monday to discuss two transfers.

The Italian outfit want to keep Hernan Crespo on a permanent basis, while the Stamford Bridge side are keen on left-back Kakha Kaladze

For a team in debt I doubt very much Parma would want a deal to bring two high earners in, and lose one of there only real sources of income availble to them.
