Still not convinced by Gilardino, a lot of Parma kids choke in bigger clubs

Yep, I tend to agree with that. Im happy with our current line up. I think Trez has 3 good seasons in him, at the highest level. Id like him to stay, and personally, Im still not too sure about Gila's acquisition being right for our squad, just yet.
I really do not understand you guys, all of you are not aware of Gila's qualities, while all of you think that we should sell proven Zambrotta and change him with totally unproven Chiellini.
Here are the main reasons for Gila to be bought

1-He is young Italian
2-He scored 22 goals this season
3-He is among the best goalscores second year in row
4-He was the top goalscorer For the Azzurri U21 at Euro 2004.

Parma push Gilardino to Juve

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus’ close links with Parma could make all the difference in the race to sign Alberto Gilardino.

The striker is a target for Juve, Milan, plus Inter and the Tardini outfit have hinted that they could reach a deal with the Turin giants.

"I have a long memory and I can’t forget that Juventus have given us £100m in exchange for players over the years," administrator Luca Baraldi told Tuttosport.

"We’ve used that money to settle a lot of debts and bring in promising youngsters with a great future.

"In the meantime, Juventus have won a lot by investing in men such as Gigi Buffon, Lilian Thuram and Marco Di Vaio.

"We have a sincere friendship with the Bianconeri."

Gilardino will be sold in the summer after another prolific season, following his 22 League goals so far.

Milan were believed to be in pole position for the Italian international but Baraldi is waiting for developments.

"Gilardino will obviously join the club who offer the biggest fee," continued the Gialloblu official.

"If Milan offer more than Juventus then it is clear that Alberto will be wearing the Rossoneri shirt.

"However, up to now we have had no concrete offers from any club so far."

I dont know. In Milan's aspect I think it will be either/or for them between Crespo and Gilardino. If they get Gila I think they wont get Crespo and if they get Crespo I dont think they will get Gilardino. Latest rumours say that Crespo will cost 11.5m. I think Milan is willing to go for it. So maybe Gilardino's free after all.

No he's not. Even if that Crespo movement happens , there is still inter in the race.

Ah, I dont consider Inter a serious threat.

I like Gilardino but still has the slightest doubts about him - will he be able to handle Europe? And he has yet to score against the big teams like Juve Milan etc (although if I am not mistaken he has scored against Milan before) Nevertheless if the price is right Im willing to take the risk.

Doubts about Gila? he is scoring more than 20 goals for the second season, and even if he'll won't score against milan, inter or any other team of high status, but with him we'll still can make 5-0 against teams- outsiders. ;]]

Even at the expense of Trezeguet?

That's not true, because he don't have the needed backup in Parma to score goals against the big clubs(he did it last season against us in the second half of the season anyway), but with appropriate backup (Nedved,Camoranesi,Emerson,Del Piero) he could to even more than just to score some goals against the big names.
He is the future and he'll become the future of any club to take him.

Thats too exagerating,

I wouldn't pick many players ahead of trezeguet for our target man, but Gilardino is one of them. And if the sacrifice pays off in the form of Gila then I will be very happy!

Well people can say what they want, but my answer would be a no. I want Trez to stay.

Again, Trez is a proven player. And if you talk about netting goals like you have been about Gilardino then there's no point in selling Trez at all - yes he can be invisible in the matches but hey, the goals just keep on coming from him. I am even more amazed at how much Trezeguet has done for us this season despite all his injuries. Plus, Trez's "invisibility" wont be much a problem now that we have Mutu and Ibrahimovic and our midfield covers up for us. So why not just stick to our natural goal poacher who always deliver us goals?

On the other hand I would absolutely welcome Gilardino to Juventus. But I would still prefer Trezeguet to stay. Gilardino has been playing well these past seasons scoring goals in Serie A and for Italy... What on earth do you mean by saying "so what" if he doesnt score against big teams. Why do you have lethal strikers in the first place if they do not score in the big matches?? Plus CL will be a new experience for Gilardino and he'll be exposed to new things. I hope he adapts well but in the meantime when he does so I think we should keep Trez as a security to the team. For Juve's sake.

I think with the recent developments taking place, between Alex and Capello, i think its going to turn out for the best for Juve. That said, I still think Cassano has the big match temperament comparitively to Gilardino, and imo would be a better buy. Trezeguet, to me should just stay, because he is undoubted, proven quality both in the Serie A and Champions League, he's as sharp a shooter as one can be, and most importantly he makes the half chances count. The best, strongest line up imo would be if Trez stayed and Dp left making way for Cassano, and giving us a lineup that looked like this:

Trezeguet
Cassano
Ibra
Mutu
Zalayeta
