I didn't even think he was that fast. He was basically invisible when I saw him in DC. Nothing special at all about him, IMO.
not dismissing your personal experience but it was one game, wasn't it. he looked pretty fast for most of his cameos during the regular season though

anyway, i hope you're right about him and it's a good riddance

Other than the goal he scored that was called back, what else has he done? I can't think of anything, other than being a huge liability defensively.

He's almost 22. If he was 18 I would be like yeah, let's give him more time.

I know you don't like him, but Weah is going as well, you do know we could end up with someone even worse than Costa.

I think you’re overhyping him. Sure, he’s considered a talent, but he really hasn’t shown anything special, and defensively he’s been pretty weak. At best, he might turn into someone like Cancelo and even that seems unlikely. Overall, selling him for around 20-25 million wouldn’t be a bad move if we can bring in a good replacement.

What the f are we selling him for: we bought him for 14m. Right now w'ere selling him for 15-18. If all clauses dont get triggered that's barely 1 m profit minus shared fee's with agents and old clubs. Basically break even stuff.

I'd rather sell Weah to OM for 15m and keep him as back up

We've gone from saying this guy is a nobody and not very good to bemoaning his potential sale.

Has he shown some signs? Yes.
Would I sell him for 18ml? Probably not.
Ultimately though it all depends on who we bring in.

I see that we're coping exactly the same way that we did with Huijsen, Soule and the rest. 'He's not that good', 'hasn't shown anything' 'take the money'. We have this very short term thinking were we take a safe 15m today instead of keeping the player and see their value/performances double. Only for them to be replaced by a mediocre Gonzalez/Kostic/Kelly type of player.

I dont care about him being sold, he is liable in defence and already 22. But maybe would be smart first to have his replacement or what... thic club is runed by the biggest idiots sports have ever seen.

We don’t really have much else to do as fans in this kind of scenarios… first we go through denial, after which in the second phase we accept that the player is going to be sold but we keep demanding for a higher fee or at least a competent replacement lined up, then in the third and final phase we go through the coping mechanism that you described well in your post.

Authority bias is in play here. Sporting have a reputation of taking unknowns and producing quality. Some of the fans are now feeling his value will double or triple in a year at Sporting. Had it been Braga, I dont think many would have given a shit.

for 16 or 18m i would keep him, he should be a rotation player here, we have to buy another wing back. He definitely shouldnt be a starter here if we are that broke that we cant buy starter for that RWB spot then...

Because they actually play and develop those guys. We don't have the patience for it. One bad intervention and fans are all over the place, bringing out the burning sticks.

If one thing, it seems like we're taking our time with many deals that are almost closed. Sounds like somewhere a first domino has to fall for this to kickstart. Could be Costa.
