Liverpool passed 3rd qualifying stage, it was against Rabotcniki or something similar. Yesterday was play-off round, and regulations does not say anything about it. I guess he would not be eligible to play. However, as far as I understand, he could be registered in January but only for a team of Champions League. At least it's what regulations state, but there might might some part I don't understande or some way to round it.
Simply put: He can be registered in the group stages if Liverpool don't make it there. If they do not make it to the group stages, then Aquilani can be registered for groups and beyond.

No he can't, it doesn't matter. It would only matter if Liverpool didn't pass 3rd qualifying round (Against Rabotcniki or something similar). Yesterday was play-off round and that rule you posted does not say anything about play-off round.

Oops, that's too expensive. Poulsen-like salary right there.

He might not even be fit for half of the matches.

16M is pretty steep, so we might not end up exercising the option.
If he is healthy, and yes, that is a big If, he is such a far superior player to Poulsen

He's obviously better with the ball than Poulsen.

But you'd think that someone who Buffon touted as "one of the world's best" would be at least slightly better than that...

So, if the numbers are true and Juve are on the hook, then the sale of Poulsen was NOT about the salaries.

It was about Juve filling a need with a deep lying playmaker

I honestly believe that Marotta and Liverpool had this worked out while they were going over the Poulsen sale.

There's no other explanation for it.

    It's only his injuries Andrew.

Even Xavi few years back said he'll be as good as Pirlo (at his prime when he kicked butts).

Its been about injuries with Aquilani, not skill.

Why do I get the feeling that not even this is good enough for you??

Even without injuries, I still don't buy it.

He's certainly a good player and slick with the ball, but I'm not sure why Buffon would claim that apart from the obvious answer.

If Aquilani manages to stay healthy, it could turn out to be a good deal at 16M. I'm all for Aquilani here as we certainly need passers in midfield. Then next summer, sell Sissoko and bring in another two-way midfielder who can pass, keeping Melo as the "destroyer."

You have every right to feel that way.

how do you feel about all of this?
I've already said this, but I think it's an absolute coup for you guys. A great pick up. It's a great move for Alberto as well, but only if he gets playing time.

As for Liverpool. I am fucking pissed. I think he is ripe for a coming out party and with the lack of depth we have in the team and the amount of time we have to get a replacement (now mind you it's a loan so there is no big fee to find a replacement with) is just stupid. The guy had 2 goals and six assists last campaign and he even said he was far from his best.

If management hasn't noticed, Joe Cole is missing an entire month of football due to his red card and we are shipping his obvious replacement away in favor of who? Shelvey, Pacheco? The Jew? Oh right he's at CHELSEA!

It just doesn't seem right to show a guy, who has said multiple times this summer he wants to be at Liverpool, the door without giving him a shot.

I would like to pose a question, adn this is the perfect place to do it, because this is the hot spot as of right now.

I would like objectivity and honesty.

#1) Is this midfield, where there was a lack of spark and creativity a lot better than it was only 48 hours ago?

#2) Is this team a younger, more athletic, quicker , and deeper squad than it was a year ago.

#3) Have there been significant gains in the transfer market , with only minimal losses?

#4) If Marotta were to acquire a quality left back and 4th CB (and don't say that he can't, because he did just acquire 2 mids in 48 hours), would you say, when looking at the roster compared to last year, on paper of course, that this is certainly a better team, with the types of players that will fit the system that the coach is looking for?
