With the 4 CMs being Marchisio, Melo, Sissoko and Aquilani (?), I don't think that a single one of them has a guaranteed starting spot. Even without buying the Italian, Marchisio, Melo and Sissoko don't have a guaranteed starting place.

From now on it will be
1. Who plays better.
2. Which pair develops better understanding and gives better balance.
Exactly. As much as I like Marchisio, his performances have yet to warrant an automatic starting spot. Let him earn that with consistently good displays. Even though Marchisio is my fav of the four, if we fare better with let's say an Aquilani-Melo midfield, so be it.

When fit, yes. But look at how many games he generally plays per season. 15 or something.
I never said he plays all matches, that's another issue. I just say that his quality was always noticeable, even in the last season at Roma.

Oh and another thing. Injury prone thing.

Remember Juan? Well, as 29yo he almost never played for Roma. We only got to see him playing for Brazil occasionally. He had many injury problems.

Training ground was changed. They gave him a new diet and training schedule. He wasn't working on strength but pace.

Look at him now. Not a single injury. I hope we can do the same thing here.

Nobody is taking Marchisio's spot, I don't know why recently the media are obsessed about kicking him from the starting squad.
Option to buy is a must, I don't wanna see him back at Liverpool if he do a good job here.
    :agree:

If this deal comes to a reality I'll probably pass out for a while. Sounds too good to be true (I've always liked Aquilani, even if he tends to get injured every now and then).

Aquilani is really talented and he's a Roman. Born in Rome, grew up in Roma as a footballer. Like Totti and De Rossi. I really doubt that Roma would have sold him, even less for "only" 20m euro, if they weren't sure that the boy's injuries are very serious.

I'm pretty sure that no team can get consistency from Aquilani. The most one can hope for is that the time of being injured will be reduced and he gets to play 50-60% of the matches.

I think it would be great to have 2 really good central midfielders who can compete for the same spot, last season marchisio was the only player who could fill that spot, and he played there almost every game when not injured even when he looked to be having a bad performance streak,so a good midfielder who can give him some competition as well as letting juve to let marchisio rest when he needs it will be very good for Juve and Marchisio..
And even a loan without option should not be much of a problem,as i think if we do great this season then we can always shop next season, and there is always ekdal, we'll see how he does in bologna..

Don't forget that Roma has financial issues, maybe they simply decided to grab the money, Roman or not.

Sadly I think you're right and I know exactly what you mean. I just don't want to lose hopes :D I know he played all matches in Serie B back in the days, then everything went downhill.

Deal might be clinched today. And it seems he already has a ticket for Italy.

We're paying 50% of wages (2mln). No news about option to buy.

Another thing if we have 4 relatively same quality CM, Aquilani could get proper rest and therefore his injuries might not be such a big problem.

You're kidding me, right? This can't be true, we can't just get two players all of a sudden after two months of constant bullshit.

No matter how we put it, injured or not, just a loan or not, Aquilani is 10 times better choice than buying a 4th CM, because we all knew it was going to be some average/below average cheap (but still overpaid by our board) midfielder that was just going to take a spot, contribute nothing and then refuse to be sold after 2 years.

I'll be glad if this transfer goes through, even if only a 1 year loan.

36 hours ago some people here wanted to kill Marotta, and now this, looks like he is making up for the lost time with all the Dzeko stuff.
