Don't get me wrong, Marchisio-Aquilani would be absolutely brilliant. I'd love to see it happen. But it may be a bit difficult.

I'm probably the biggest Marchisio fan on the forum, so I'd never drop him anyway. And I've always rated Aquilani very highly, but, like you say, injuries have been keeping him down and there's not really a guarantee it will be any better this season.

I think, to compensate, the defenders would be asked to "stay at home" more, and not push up quite as frequently.

A good LB, and a 4th CB must be an absolute priority after this if it were to take place.

And I'm not talking about that kid from Parma either. I've seen him play, he's average at best

I agree with Seven, that an Aquilani - Marchisio partnership might be a little too difficult. Aquilani can't really tackle and isn't much of a hard worker either, so if that partnership materialized then Marchisio would be the one that did most of the defending, which would restrict Claudio, as defending is not one of his strong points.

But its true. If Aquilani came, it would be between him and Marchisio who to partner Melo. As the latter is a completely different player, and would not be in competition with either of the mentioned two for a spot in the team

There's no way Marchisio is going to be dropped for either Aquilani or Melo. That's all I'm saying.

His girl is even more awesome.
Everything about Aquilani as a player oozes class by the way. He's so damn gracious.

But injuries are the reason I might not go for him. And a loan without an option to buy is bollocks IMO.

Probably not, i agree. I'm just saying that a Melo - Aquilani partnership is a lot more probable than a Marchisio - Aquilani one.

His passing is a bit overstated i'd say. He is a good passer of the ball for sure, but nothing special. D.Pizarro is better at passing the ball around, he has a wider passing range and he is more intelligent with the ball, ie he rarely loses it, he's also better at keeping possession than Aquilani. I always thought Spaletti was right to play Pizarro over Aquilani. You obviously watch a lot of Roma, so i'm sure you'd agree Pizarro was one of their best players last season, and was even better than De Rossi.
De Rossi is overrated in Italy and Pizarro is surely one of their key players over years now.

Anyway, Pizarro is great but I definitely disagree there. Pizarro does have wider passing range but there is absolutely no way he's better at ball possession, no way. Aquilani's technique is superb and unlike Pizarro he keeps it more simple. Pizarro tends to overdo so many times and lose the ball and IMO it's one of his biggest flaws for sure. You'll not get to see that from Alberto as he keeps it smarter in that area. And also Alberto's forward runs are something Pizarro never had nor showed in Roma and Udinese. IMO they are different players...Pizarro is a deep lying playmaker while Aquilani has way more offensive role, like advanced playmaker. Anyway, I think he's better than Pizarro and that's the bottom line.

Aquilani-Marchisio indeed sounds good but I'm willing to bet that Delneri will always field one of Sissoko or Melo in the middle of the pitch. That being said, I do hope we get Aquilani as a little competition never hurts and would make Marchisio work even harder. Not to mention that with our history of injuries quality back-ups will be very important throughout the season. I really like Marchisio but the kid needs to be more consistent to be granted a starting spot for the whole season. Get Aquilani, and play whoever is better.

"I didn't want to use him against Trabzonspor just in case the loan goes through, because for Aquilani this year it's very important that he plays regular football, every week, as the number one man on the teamsheet.

"I can't promise him that here so if a loan move to Italy could help him in that respect it might be good for all parties.

"It would certainly be what he needs, it would certainly protect the value of the player and when he does return to Liverpool no doubt we will see the Aquilani that we signed before he came here injured last year."
    I don't like that part.

We have to pressure there and get an option to buy, even if it's 17mln euros because it it turns out ok he's definitely worth it.

Without an option to buy is damn retarded. Still, it's not like we're in a position to pick. We badly need some player there and he'd help us a lot in getting CL spot. He's clearly better than any other player available.

I'd love to see him play at Juve, even if its on loan but with an option to buy.
If he does well, I wouldn't see a reason not to buy him (except if he's overpriced).
But like someone here already said, loaning him without an option to buy would be stupid.
