Thanks for the reply Sarge. Makes sense in a way. I'm still skeptical over such a deal though.

yes, but if he could still play in the CL by playing in the EL then that would rule out milan and inter and only leave us and napoli, which his agent said the other day he wasn't joining them

:shifty:

sooooooooooooooooooo

:weee:
What?

He didn't play in the EL.

Maybe threre really is a loan deal we're planing for him:

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson explained his decision, "I didn't want to use him tonight in case the loan goes through because for Aquilani it's very important this year that he plays regular football, every week as the number one man on the team sheet.

I think he would make exellent Marchisio partner.

He has 26years. Damn, i thougt 22,23
Young & Italian :agree:

I'm not so excited about him but a loan would still be a great deal. Injuries aside, can he play with Marchisio? I'm not sure but he would probably need to be paired with Melo/Momo. And that, with Claudio on the bench, wouldn't take our team to the next level as someone said.

If this were to happen, then the theory of every Italian team needing to have a destroyer in the starting XI just goes out the window.

Suddenly, a Krasic-Aquilani-Marchisio-Lanzafame midfield look so much better than what was out there 24 hours ago

That might be a little bit too much for Marchisio to handle defensively though.

Discussion directed from Serie A thread.

Aquilani has been really poor for Pool. He was never first choice for Roma, instead he was always a substitute to D.Pizarro. What exactly has Aquilani shown to prove that he could have been one of the best?

I'm not saying Gago is better mind you, he hasn't proven much either. I was just surprised by the comment, "he would have been one of the worlds best".
Aaron said he was very decent there and now he played great in the pre-season. Never mind that - let's skip it as I don't watch EPL that much to have a valid point.

But sure, when it comes to Serie A matches I'm willing to give arguments. Easily, he was a back up there only because of his injuries and that is without a doubt the only reason. His matches for Roma were always great and no matter how much I love Pizarro as a player I can say that Aquilani is better and deserves a starting spot over him. He's very talented and his style of play is just great - as he's very calm and shows everything a perfect CM should have, from great passing (one of the rare who has damn good long balls) to vision and a rocket shot (what I've seen against Real Madrid in the CL will never be forgotten). IMO he's a perfect example of a professional and amazing player but it's just his injuries that keep him down. His attacking role plays an important factor here as he's damn good there, providing balls to strikers while at the same time he keeps doing defense job. Seriously, IMO he has 2 minuses and those would be - injuries and poor in the air. Other than that, he's great.

Marchisio would be the box-to-box midfileder, while Aquilani would play as more of a regista, with the technical skill to move up in attack as well.

Sounds like a perfect fit to me

It'd probably be Pepe on the left. But it'd still look very good indeed.

Well, Marchisio HAS to be in there, in my opinion. Granted, they may suffer a little defensively, but the creative spark that we've been crying out for from the midfield would be instantly taken care of with Aquilani there.

I always envisioned Aquilani as the next Andrea Pirlo, for some reason. Injuries are the only thing that have kept him down, not his ability

Don't get me wrong, Marchisio-Aquilani would be absolutely brilliant. I'd love to see it happen. But it may be a bit difficult.

I'm probably the biggest Marchisio fan on the forum, so I'd never drop him anyway. And I've always rated Aquilani very highly, but, like you say, injuries have been keeping him down and there's not really a guarantee it will be any better this season.

I'm not sure what Inter is going to field out there in their midfield, but I would go out on a limb and say that if this were to come to pass, that Juve might have one of, if not, the most athletic midfield in the league.

I just don't want to be let down.

As far as the rest of the transfers were concerned, to be quite honest, I was like "OK, they need depth on the wings for the 4-4-2. Kinda makes sense. Wouldn't have paid 12 million for Martinez to play on the wing when he's in fact a second striker, but hey, its not my money"

Krasic, I know very little about, so I went off of the opinions of others who have seen him play.

THIS, however, this, would get me extremely excited for the upcoming season if it were to happen.

    Hodgson

"I didn't want to use him against Trabzonspor just in case the loan goes through, because for Aquilani this year it's very important that he plays regular football, every week, as the number one man on the teamsheet.

"I can't promise him that here so if a loan move to Italy could help him in that respect it might be good for all parties.

"It would certainly be what he needs, it would certainly protect the value of the player and when he does return to Liverpool no doubt we will see the Aquilani that we signed before he came here injured last year."

Aaron is biased :D. He was decent in a few games, but all in all, he was quite average to be honest. Especially when played as a CM, later on in the season Rafa started playing him behind the striker, he was a bit better there, but still not good enough. Theres a reason Pool don't want him.

His passing is a bit overstated i'd say. He is a good passer of the ball for sure, but nothing special. D.Pizarro is better at passing the ball around, he has a wider passing range and he is more intelligent with the ball, ie he rarely loses it, he's also better at keeping possession than Aquilani. I always thought Spaletti was right to play Pizarro over Aquilani. You obviously watch a lot of Roma, so i'm sure you'd agree Pizarro was one of their best players last season, and was even better than De Rossi.
