By playing the same Melo and Sissoko failed last season. His passing game was simple but he never made any mistake which was very important last night. Surprisingly enough he had a very good impact when it came to defending last night as he was covering players pretty well. He never had such role at Roma too. I agree it wasn't anything special but he did very well. Seeing him with the ball makes me peaceful, having nothing to worry about. I'm sure in the match he'll have more offensive role where he'll be a bigger treat up front. He's a type of player we always needed here and something we never had over the past God-knows how many years. Seeing him next to Melo is just  so far. Simply a great duo.

Keeping it simple with no mistakes > Fancy stuff and risking getting caught on the counter, especially in such a game as last night was.

There's still room for improvement for him though.

I'd say C.Zanetti for us was pretty close to that kind of player, although maybe that's just a fanboy in me thinking loud again :p

He was, I had him in my head. But Aquilani just takes it to whole other level IMO.

If he keeps it up I'm sure he'll be one of the key players next season. If we buy him and God I hope we do.

I really don't see the problem with keeping it simple and making short passes.

In a match away at the San Siro that is exactly what you need to keep possession to build attacks. Keeping the ball is one of the most important aspects for a centre mid and we have been looking for one since we came up from Serie B.

His tackling and defensive positioning really impressed me, as it is something that I didn't think he could do.

    Spot on.

We really need to pounce on his asking fee & get it over & done with. He is the answer to our midfield puzzle.
