So, essentially, Aqui can't do anything. Well if that's the case (which I personally refuse to believe), then there's really no point in signing him.
Not exactly. There is a point in signing him if we play proper football. Aquilani is a classy player with vision and passing. But those two characteristics require teammates unfortunately.

I usually try to count the options our players have up the field when they receive a ball. I often stop at 1. In Aquilani's case his options are usually limited to Melo beside him or Krasic on the touch line. This is not even an exaggeration. And then what happens with a player like Aquilani is he starts to press as a distributor because his options are so limited. Then you start seeing flicks and miracle passes that have no chance. He becomes frustrated and impatient, but I can't blame him really.

:agree:

Just imagine Xavi playing for Juve this season instead of Aqua. When you have players like Alves, Messi, Pedro, Villia, Iniesta... who always make movement in the pitch, you will always, ALWAYS, find a player who can receive your passes. On the other hand, when your surrounded by Melo, Amauri, Iaq, Marchisio and Krasic, there's not a lot you can do considering there are no targets to which you can deliver your passes. When Quaq was playing, Aqua did well.

And if want to judge players according to this season, let's sell Krasic. Exactly like how we sold Diego.

that really can't be an excuse for aquas form! as professional football player who even played as attacking midfielder he has the option to go/dribble past one opponent if not enough players are available for a pass. going past a player gives the team a numerical advantage and time for the others to make runs. if it is demanded too much from him, to go past a few players in midfield (which is way easier than closer to the goal), then he is simply a bad midfielder. just remember what would be if we played him as attacking midfielder ... he would be totally invisible because he would be always marked and every option in front of him to pass would be marked too ... i wonder why other midfielders with way less technical ability achieve better results ... its simply a psychological thing. he does not have the right mind to be a good midfielder and that's it. it's not like he is a player in pro evo, where he can be remote controlled. a change of aquilanis mind is very unprobable considering his past where he did not fix this.

not "simply dribble through" the midfield, but he does not do it at all. result is, that his effectiveness is nullified, when the others are marked and not making runs. you will always see xavi (if you take him as perfect example) choose the option to go past at least one player if there is noone who could receive a pass.

in the central midfield you have so much space, you can strafe left or right to avoid people attacking you and it is very simple to go past one man approaching you, because there is so much space and in this part of the pitch the pressure is pretty low (because you wont get doubled up upon).

and i am not upset, but i am just seeing that he is just not the type of player to take a game by the neck and drive it forward, because his movement is way to lethargic.

so we had diego in the midfield, who chose the option to dribble past a player in midfield way to often and now we have aquilani with the opposite problem of not even once dribbling past someone.

he is very predictable if he relies solely on others making runs

I think Krasic has a goal from outside the box no?

also Diego last season scrored a great goal with his left foot just outside the box.

Aquilani to stay at Juve, says agent

Alberto Aquilani’s agent is confident that Juventus won’t let the player slip through their fingers during the summer.

The midfielder’s future in Turin is in some doubt given that the €16m buy-out clause is a little steep for a club who will probably not qualify for the Champions League.

There has been speculation that Juve will try to get Liverpool to accept a smaller figure or attempt to renew his loan for another season.

However, Franco Zavaglia has told Radio Mana Mana that he believes his client will sign for the Old Lady.

“At the end of the day, I don’t think that there will be any problems,” the representative noted. “I don’t think Aquilani will leave Turin.

“Juventus have until June 30 to take up their option to sign Aquilani – all they have to do is make their move.

“It’s possible that they’ll try to get a discount, that’s part of the game, but all of the details were sorted out last summer.”

Aquilani, along with the side in general, has struggled to perform in 2011 after a reasonably promising first half of the campaign.
