Zlatan is loved by the fans. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that.

He won player of the year and also most of Juves fans arent Italian. Or at least not living in Italy.

Juve is a huge club all around the world.

Zlatan is the most Googled Juveplayer of the internet, that says allot.

cassano is probably light years ahead of him in terms of misconduct.

i think the fact that cassano's is an italian is very major factor in him being preferred by the fans.
When a game doesn't go Zlatan's way, he will juz give himself away so many times. And he headbutted 2 times last season, unfortunately he was handed a suspension of 3 games. We were so highly dependent on him back then, and to think that he actually does this. Surely some Juve fans weren't too pleased with his behaviour.

Sure Cassano is a walking time-bomb and his behaviour wrecks team atmosphere, but when Zlatan's ego overcome him at times, trouble will come along too.

Zlatan just won the fans most favourite player of the year rite?

he is loved but he isnt italian
Firstly he won the fans favourite from the survey cards at the juve store... whos that voted for by ??

Its voted by tourists or rich fancard holders that have never set foot in the delle alpi thats who...

To be a the fan icon you need to be loved by the curva... which he isnt...

But hey what do i know... Im jus a season ticket holder on scirea 2... What would i know about what the fans there think...

Paul, why isnt' there the admiration from La Curva for Zlatan?

Is it because

A) He's new and has to prove himself to La Curva

B) He's not Italian

C) He is seen as a direct threat to Del Piero's status

All of the above, none of the above??

personally, mutu is the least likely one out of cassano, mutu and zlatan that i think will become a juventus icon.

and id still like to know why shadowfax thinks that zlatan isnt popular with the fans, and how cassano will become a juventus icon.
i wudve gone for cassano too,but then again,i still dont know how turin will respond to cassano's arrival.

I think it has more to do with Zlatan's personality than it has to do with his ability. Neither Zlatan nor Cassano have character traits that Del Piero represented as symbol of Juventus. In addition to which, I think it would be safe to assume that Ibra will not be here for the stretch of his career, which could be another factor. Cassano would be the natural pick, given he's young and Italian but I think Mutu has a persona that resembles Del Piero and so does his style of play, only he's a lot quicker. If you say Mutu is the least likely to be the symbol because he doesnt have the charisma, game or confidence that Dp had over the years, I'd beg to differ, but if you said Mutu is the least likely out of Cassano, Zlatan and himself to replace Del Piero because the current environment under Capello wont see him get the kind of chance he'd need to capitalise on such a title, then I'd say I have to agree.

Its not a lack of amiration.... Its a lack of love, a lack of that something extra that makes you a crowd favourite a club icon...

He is respected and supported jus not loved

A general feeling that he plays for himself not for the club... compare his celebrations to those of dp / nedved to get the idea...

Most feel he will leave when the right offer comes along

His non-plus attitude towards the fans... Look at how dp, pess, gigi, zambro, canna, nedved, even trez... approach the fans and play for them...

Obviously not being an italian doesnt help... but not such an issue...

Theres alot of frustration on the curva with zlatan... for all his tricks and qualities... the amount of stray passes, the amount of failed dribbles when he could have released the ball etc... Plus of course his attitude....Of course that is something that he will hopefully improve as he matures as a player

Hes as annoying as he is great

I dont think the threat to dp is really an issue... Maybe from some, but in general most see no reason why cap cant accomodate them both... Most feel the trident worked well when used last year ... and of course is something that has worked well for juve on many occasions through her history...
You also have to look that the curva has watched many of its favourites edged out in the past without real issue.... Its really not a big factor...

i still think Del Piero can give Juve a lot and help the team to be succesful! He is without a doubt the symbol of Juve but there will come a new era!
I still believe in DP too but we have to admit that we have already seen the most of this Era...

sahdowfax, how do people from the La Curva respond to cassano's imminent arrival at juventus?
do they consider him to be del piero's natural heir?

you yourself said that cassano would be the one who would take on from where del piero left, but doesnt the thought of having a walking time bomb,a roma player, and someone's whos willigness to juventus for the time being atleast,is becasue of capello...dont these factors disturb the La curva?

given the choice,i would love to have cassano at juventus replacing del piero, but i really wana know how la curva feels about the whole cassano thing and his possible rise to the throne vacated by del piero.

I think its only natural, sooner or later for the realisation to dawn that Del Piero will be replaced. And given the current situation, there isnt anyone else out there besides Cassano to take up that mantle vacated by the symbol.

I'm in complete agreement with that rationale.

Obviously not much, since you yourself is one of those rich tourists i wouldnt be so fast to belittle their opinion.

A friend of mine lives in turin and he is a street guy and from what ive heard Zlatan is loved by most people.
