i'm from holland and i have seen him play very often but i must admit this year every ball he touched was a goal but i don't wanna spend the money on the man yet this was his first year and let's get it straight the defenders in holland aren't that great (only alex is worldclass)
i say get huntelaar he is much younger

I'v seen the clip with his goals. The FK goals are miserable, the live-wall didn't even hopped so he flipped the ball over them very easily! The otherones aren't that spectacular also, but I give him a credit for dribling the GK. He read the GK movements quite well and he is prpbably intelegent, but I doubt he is up to Juve

hmm goals don't have to be spectacular he is always at the right moment there and that is what counts

I didn't mean spectacul like a goal from 40 yards, thats not what I'm searching.
I was meaning not-spectacular more like goalkeepers error, displaced live wall, unpositioned keeper and lazy defenders. Half from those goals definitly won't be scored in Seria A, and they don't have a chance against a defence like Inter's or Milan's and many other solid defences in Serie A.
Correct me if I'm wrong

You are partly right, partly wrong. Against Roma he could score hat-trick every time :D

Hello, I'm a Heerenveensupporter and I've seen Afonso Alves in every home match and a couple of away-matches. We've had a few really good strikers here in the past(Tomasson, Huntelaar and Van Nistelrooy), but none of theme were as good and complete as Alves. His speciality is his freekick. Some of them look impossible or catchable for the goalkeepers, but many of his 'victims' told the ball just kept going up and down, which made it very difficult to stop. Today I watched him on the trainingground and he plays so intelligent.

We've bought him last summer for 4.5 million. He still has a 4-year contract, so we can ask a lot of money. Our chairman has already promised he won't sell him for less then 20 million. So if no club wants to pay this lot, he'll just stay in Holland.

If you want more information, just ask me or check the English section of the Heerenveen-forum: http://sc.heerenveen.org/forum

One of his 4 goals against Feyenoord Rotterdam:

All the goals against Feyenoord(last Sunday). Alves scores on 45s, 3.10s, 4.05s and 5.15s.

A goal against our rivals, FC Groningen. He scored 4 times against them this season:

Hello SC Heerenveen,

those numbers are very impressive.

99% we'll have Huntelaar in our lineup next season so we don't have to buy another striker for 4m € more.

I read that Ajax might look at Alves to replace him.

The transferprice for Huntelaar will be about the same as the price is for Alves(if Ajax sells Huntelaar, we even get a nice percentage which was arranged when we sold him for 9 million to Ajax).

Ajax isn't a very rich club. They can't buy Alves right now, but if they sell Huntelaar it should be possible for them to buy Alves as a replacement.

But as I said before, Alves is better then Huntelaar. Huntelaar is extremely dangerous in the box, but hasn't got the pace to run half a pitch(or more). Alves runs away from every defender over a long distance. I see Juventus as a team with fast counter-attacks, in which a player like Alves would fit much better. But I don't know the exact style of Juventus, so maybe I'm wrong.

Heerenveen is like a Swedish team :D many Swedes there.
Great for our football that teams in the dutch league want some swedish players.
It would be great to have Alves represent Sweden upfront with Ibra :D
He once said that if he got a chance, he would consider playing for Sweden, since he got citizenship.

I hope Lars Lagerbäck pick up the phone and call him. But soon Dunga will.
