I agree with you.. As I said before, personally I would go with the 2220.80 but then again I a biased some how. I was in your same position around a year and half ago and decided to go with the 2220.80 after a LONG search.
I am a big fan of watches. I can't see myself walking around not wearing a watch.
May I suggest some specific POs you should think about (I am not sure if I showed u these before or not its a bit late here and I am half a sleep lol). Those are all 42 mm.

nearly, i'm more likely to get the 222080, even though i am still tempted by the aqua terra, i saw the chronograph seamaster for real and i'm not too keen on it, though i still do like option 3 (forget model reference)

Yes it is better. The differences are:
1- Longer movement-free running time
2- More shock obserbing ability which reflects on the watch going into error because of increased shock.
3- More stable time error. Each automatic watch has an error fraction whether its low or high, the Co-Axial helps the watch to keep that error low and stable. Meaning if your watch gains a second every day Co-Axial tries to keep it 1s/day even if the wearing habits changes.
