Chelsea in £65m Adriano bid
Thursday 2 June, 2005

Chelsea are today being linked with a record breaking £65m transfer for Inter sensation Adriano.

Reports in Rio de Janeiro this morning suggest that the Premiership champions are ready to dig deep in order to net the 23-year-old.

And the player himself has fuelled speculation that he could be set for a summer move to England.

"I am happy at Inter and I still have a lot of years left on my contract," he is quoted as saying. "But Chelsea have come in with an exceptionally strong proposal."

Inter have insisted on many occasions this season that they intend to keep Adriano, who is tied to them until the summer of 2008.

However, they may be tempted to sell if the London club really do table such a bid for the former Parma and Fiorentina ace.

It’s believed that Juan Sebastian Veron, currently on loan at Inter from Chelsea, would be involved in the deal.

The Nerazzurri could also look to replace Adriano with Parma ace Alberto Gilardino, who will be sold by the Tardini outfit in the summer.

if they get him, will they be unstopable ?
Nah. Just means Moratti might have to print up fewer Euros in the basement of the San Siro during the offseason.

Chelsea could do well with an Adriano. If there's one team weakness they have, it's in a world class striker.

At the end of the day it will mean that Inter's transfer budget will not be negative, it might break even.

I'm affraid that inter will earn a lot from the transfer so they 'll be able to buy some great reinforcements.
who will inevitably choke and make Inter even more of a laughingstock :D

I dislike them too but they always beat us however they look like.
I hope that we will kick them maybe at the supercup game(ofcourse if they beat roma first at the cup final),but I just affraid of them because the money creates the winners and they will have a lot of it after the possible transfer.:greedy:

Adriano is injured way too much to be considered a threat for an entire season. He's there one month, but hes out the next three, so i dont know where the benefit of the 65 mil lies anyway.

if i were Moratt i'll let him go for this amount. a team like inter could not win a scudetto since 89 , what do they expect from 1 player ?

This club can not win a scudetto at the present time not with adriano but even if Maradona or Pele came back to play with them ?

The Brazilian phenomenon explained why he will not be leaving the Nerazzurri this summer.
Chelsea are determined to lure Adriano to England with a huge offer. However, the Inter striker does not want to leave his realm.

“In Milan they treat me like a king and I have no intention of leaving.

“Chelsea came forward with a multimillion offer during the season, and apparently they’re even more determined now. I’m glad about this, but I’m happy in Milan”

    What Rubbish..?

Just because he was out this year for a month or two, it doesnt make him an injury-prone. Adriano is physically very strong to be injured a lot.

How could you come up with such a comment? that sounds like a pure assumption to me. Do you even watch the games? I wonder..
