Monday 5 March

The week begins with news concerning the conditions of Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini. Both defenders picked up knocks against Chievo, with subsequent scans revealing the full extent of their injuries. Barzagli is expected to be out for 20 days with a calf strain, while a muscle inflammation is predicted to keep Chiellini sidelined for ten days.

With Wednesday’s encounter in Bologna just around the corner, the Bianconeri make a swift return to Vinovo. Antonio Conte opts for a tactical based session and divides the team into two groups. The defenders work on specific movements, while the midfielders and strikers focus on attacking play.

Tuesday 6 March

Antonio Conte is under the media spotlight in Vinovo as he conducts his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game at the Dall’Ara.

With just over two months remaining until this season’s Serie A championship draws to a close, Conte moves to silence any potential voices of discontent by reflecting on the Bianconeri’s sensational performance so far.

The 42-year-old comments: “I can’t see why anyone should be down, given the extraordinary championship season we’re having. We’ve given our all up until now and this has got us back to being competitive, feared and up against opponents who put in 150% to try and beat us.”

Wednesday 7 March

A second-half Mirko Vucinic strike earns Juventus a point from a feisty encounter with Bologna. The hosts go in front after seventeen minutes through a well-taken goal from Marco Di Vaio, but the Bianconeri show plenty of heart to raise their game after the break and grind out an equaliser their efforts more than deserve.

At the final whistle, Antonio Conte praises the will to win shown by his side: “I can’t criticise my players. They gave their all against Chievo and today they’ve shown another excellent performance against a good side. We conceded from a counter-attack, but then created some chances to win the game. Unfortunately we were unable to do so but I must praise them for their pace and intensity.”

Martin Caceres puts in a good shift in place of Barzagli and looks ahead to Sunday’s game in Genova: “We played with the right spirit after the break and probably deserved to win. It’s a shame that we’ve only got one point, but we’re already focused on the next encounter against Genoa. We’ll go to the Marassi to look to win the game.”

Thursday 8 March

After returning from Bologna in the early hours of this morning, the Bianconeri are immediately back in training with all sights focused on Sunday’s trip to the Luigi Ferraris. The players who featured in last night’s 1-1 draw undergo a warm-down both on the pitch and in the gym, while the remainder of the group focused on technique.

Over in Barcelona, the Bianconeri’s futuristic new area is handed another important recognition – the ‘Stadium Innovation Award’ – at the Global Sports Forum 2012. Representing the club is Ben Taverner, Stadium Head of Sales, who receives the award from Phillippe Auroy, Managing Director of the Consortium Stade de France, one of the prestigious partners involved in organising the event.

The evening sees the Primavera slip to a Coppa Italia first leg final defeat against Roma. Marco Baroni’s side, facing the Giallorossi just over two weeks after their 2-1 Viareggio Cup triumph, show plenty of heart and determination but are ultimately unable to overturn a resounding start by the visitors.

Alberto Libertazzi came off the bench to reduce the deficit in the 2-1 defeat, and hails his team-mates for their improved second-half display: “Well done to all my team-mates, we gave it our all. I came on with the right spirit and I scored, but unfortunately missed the chance to double my tally in the dying seconds.”

Coach Mario Baroni, meanwhile, remains hopeful of pulling off a comeback in the capital: “We created play and lifted ourselves, which isn’t easy against this Roma side, as you run the risk of getting exposed on the counter. Instead, we remained balanced. We didn’t capitalise on everything we managed to create. Now we’ll go to Rome to give it a go. I’m confident for the second leg and believe we can come back.”

Friday 9 March

Bright sunshine greets the squad upon their return to Juventus Center this afternoon as the coaching staff welcomed the entire group back for a predominantly tactical session.

Alessandro Matri conducts an exclusive interview with Sky, in which he expresses his surprise at Antonio Conte being sent to the stands during Wednesday’s game against Bologna. The striker, however, insists that the team will be fully prepared for their upcoming encounter at the Marassi.

The former Cagliari frontman states: “To tell the truth we were all surprised by the fact he was sent to the stands in Bologna. It didn’t seem like he’d protested at all. However, Sunday’s performance depends on what’s been done during the week and Conte has worked with us on the training ground.”

Saturday 10 March

Angelo Alessio meets the media in Vinovo. The assistant manager is set to take the reins at the Luigi Ferraris following Antonio Conte’s one-match touchline ban.

The 46-year-old provides his view on the events in Bologna: “Antonio was the victim of an injustice. He’s always behaved correctly towards referees and their assistants. We were all there and know how things panned out. He’s very bitter about this touchline ban and I hope that we don’t see this kind of situation arise again.”

The afternoon brings news of another sell out at Juventus Stadium. All tickets for the semi-final second leg encounter with Milan are snapped up within 24 hours of going on general sale.

Sunday 11 March

The Primavera cap off their return to championship action with a 1-0 success over Empoli. Margiotta’s right-footed strike into the far corner proves enough to see off the visitors and hand Juventus all three points.

Fabrizio Del Rosso’s Allievi are forced to settle for a share of the spoils in Tuscany after hosts Livorno cancel out Federico Mattiello’s opener.

Elsewhere, the Giovanissimi extend their fine winning streak courtesy of a 3-0 away success over Aurora Pro. Sallustio’s first-half strike was added to by Cabella’s double following the break.

Down in Genova, Juventus are left to rue their misfortune after failing to reap the rewards from a dominant performance at the Luigi Ferraris. Antonio Conte’s men shrug off their critics by producing a strong attacking display against a spirited Genoa outfit. Vucinic and Pepe both rattle the woodwork before the winger has a perfectly legitimate goal ruled out for offside.
