I love mostly anything by Kubrick

The "Singin in the rain" scene was pretty disturbing, and I love the slow-mo shot of the 'Drughi' walking by the river... to name a couple

You also have to love the movie because along with the Godfather series, it gives you a greater understanding of half of the things that come out in The Simpsons :D

Liked the scenes where they were trying to make him sick of violence and rape
Hard to watch but still fascinating, it almost made me cry :D

Awesome film. Especially it was made in the seventies who it wasn't normal to show so much violent and nudity in cinema. It was a huge scandal..

@Dan: I can recommend nearly all films directed by Kubrick if you haven't seen them already.

Ok...I got it and skipped to some place in the middle, just to have a taste of it, and what do I find...a guy tied up watching a couple of clowns singing and stripping his wife...WTF is up with this!! Is this worth my time?

I can only agree with swag. I'm tempted to whistle now, but I fear Tom will be humping my leg in a minute if I do.

And tell me what isn't fantastic about what you just described??? :D ;)
Well I might've liked it if they didn't look like clowns and weren't singing...that freaked me out. When I want to watch porn, I'll watch something labeled exactly that. :D

Clown porn... hmmm, now there's a thought.

Just might top another one of my favorite "bad" movies of all time: Shakes the Clown. Or, as the Boston Globe called it, "The Citizen Kane of alcoholic clown movies."

I cannot think of a better endorsement than that. :D

Apart from Dr Strangelove, which I adore, I've found his movies to be good, but a bit hyped. I'm not the biggest fan of Clockwork, though it's certainly different and wonderfully made. The rape scene is possibly the most disturbing piece of cinema I've ever watched, and another few run it close.

I don't know if you guys know this, but Kubrick tore up the screenplay for the film, labeling it a simplistic rewrite of the book as a film script. He got the actors to ad lib having read a few pages from the book, then typed up what they did each evening, claiming authorship of the screenplay for himself. He also scratched the eye of the actor playing the main role in one of the torture ("therapy") scenes. By all accounts, not a nice guy to work with.

You also have to love the movie because along with the Godfather series, it gives you a greater understanding of half of the things that come out in The Simpsons :D
I've had some odd experiences watching old movies in the past few years. "Hey, that's a Simpsons' reference," I'd cry, leaping from my seat. Then, "Hang on, this was made in 1978!? Damn Simpsons, ruining my worldview!"
