Is that the only alternative to a black maid where you live? :P Also the point is she shouldn't be getting credit for playing the same role.

The shape of water was such a mediocre movie with little to zero novelty or creativity, I don't get the hype at all. The only good thing was Richard Jenkins. And I guess they are gonna nominate Octavia Spencer every time she plays the stereotypical role of a black maid/help. Holly Hunter would...

:D:tup: Breath (Nafas) is Iran's entry for the Oscars. I have heard it's very good, which is interesting given how rarely Iranian films are made in the fantasy genre.

It's a classic love story and a lot more. It takes time for the watcher and the characters likewise to pass the tense and maybe uncomfortable exploration stage and start really loving what's unfolding but when it happens it is near perfect.

Call me by your name (by far). Lady Bird and Florida Project were excellent too. I also watched Newton, which I believe is India's entry for the Oscars, and I loved it. Didn't like Phantom Thread.

I haven’t watched Leviathan but i loved both Elena and The Return (especially the latter). Banishment was so touching and real it hit home with me.

Call me by your name was an absolutely beautiful movie (Timothée Chalamet’s performance was flawless). It’s been a great year for movies so far. Banishment is his best work imo. One of my favorite films ever.

I just finished watching Twin Peaks. I am illiterate when it comes to tv series so I can't say it was the best of all time etc, but Twin Peaks is extraordinarily amazing. I loved and hated the ending. I'm hoping he makes another season but at the same time the ending was so good I kind of feel...

@Völler @GordoDeCentral http://people.ucalgary.ca/~tstronds/nostalghia.com/TheTopics/Kurosawa_on_Solaris.html "I saw this film late at night in a preview room in Moscow for the first time, and soon I felt my heart aching in agony with a longing to returning to the earth as quickly as...

Haven't seen any of her stuff, you recommend Clair Obscur? I love Fatih Akin's work, though that's technically German cinema but I especially like those works of his that are about the Turkish society.

:D I could imagine the same reaction from people of Iran (even from non-religious ones) if Mustang was about Iran, because for some reason in that part of the world, any criticism of something related to our country is a direct attack on our identity and pride. Although I agree that the...
