    Spit ban for Totti?

Italy reject Totti appeal Friday 18 June, 2004 Italy have confirmed that they will not appeal against Francesco Totti’s three-match ban for spitting. The Azzurri star was found guilty of gross unsporting conduct yesterday after he spat on Denmark’s Christian Poulsen during Monday’s 0-0...

    Spit ban for Totti?

How can it not be!?!? Nope, in fact they stated that they never suggested that he be sent home. I think what Fli meant is that since in his opinion, Italy don't look like beating the Czechs or Dutch without Totti, he'll probably go home before stepping on another football pitch in Portugal.

    Spit ban for Totti?

How much truth is there in the reports claiming that Totti spat at Poulsen 6 times?

    Spit ban for Totti?

Still, notifying the referee would've been a big step in the whole process, since the referee would write such things down in his official match report, and maybe even let his assistants know about the situation.

    Spit ban for Totti?

In that case, Poulsen was a bit foolish not to tell the referee to at least look out for it

    Spit ban for Totti?

I don't think anything Poulsen could have said justifies spitting in a man's face. Sledging and trash-talking is a part of football, spitting clearly isn't. I'm pretty sure Poulsen didn't say anything to him (first of all, what language would he say it in?), but even if he said "I'll fvck your...

    Spit ban for Totti?

What a champion. If Totti did spit in his face, Poulsen just became one of my favourite players. Silky smooth footballing skills come for a dime a dozen, but sportsmanship is a rare quality these days :touched: As for Poulsen not reacting, I'm gonna side with one of my new champions and say...

    Spit ban for Totti?

Controlling a ball is very different from being frustrated that you've played a shitty match and blatantly hacking away at a player's legs. I don't think it was blown up because it was Totti. Del Piero could've made that tackle and I'd still say he should've got sent off

    Spit ban for Totti?

Francesco Totti Okay, so you'd let me kick you above your knee and to the side, but not in your knee?

    Spit ban for Totti?

I never tried to excuse it, I already said that he should've gotten a red card. I was simply stating the reason for people maybe not taking the tackle as seriously as the spitting incident. Bad tackles happen in football all the time, but spitting is a fairly rare occurence, and when it comes...

    Spit ban for Totti?

Indeed he should have got red carded, that's a given. This is just a new incident, that's all :) Also, a bad tackle might come out of frustration or a rush of blood, but spitting in someone's face is surely a bit more of a calculated and premeditated action

    Spit ban for Totti?

    There's no justifying spitting in a man's face. It's a game FFS

    Spit ban for Totti?

I didn't see it during the game either... Juventino I remember that too, the Brazilian defender was pulling on Flo's shirt. There was also that incident with the Chilean goalkeeper and his 'bleeding' face in the 1990 WC qualifier against Brazil, where I think only one camera in the whole...
