I think it's foreshadowing...him leaving signifies the Lannisters decline. Think back to his conversation with Oberyn and how the iron throne is his only desire.

My crazy prediction based on that trailer: So Cercei gets Jamie all hard and asks him to help Tyrion "escape" so that she can kill him herself. This betrayal by his brother is unbearable for Tyrion but wait...Jamie has other plans...he kills Cercei because he knows his siblings can't co-exist...
