Yes I can say that and no I don't have to predict anything because I saw it happen. Marchisio didn't play on the left in every match and even then Aquilani was consistently benching him. It wasn't a "battle" at all, Aquilani was clearly preferred.

Let me get this straight. You think Marchisio would have been starting in the center over Aquilani last season if we had a consistent reliable player on the left? Come on you can't really believe that. This is what I'm talking about. Even your memory selectively supports and defends Marchisio.

I don't understand why you're so convinced that he has a lot to offer but we just aren't seeing it "because of the team". He showed a lot of promise under Ranieri but in the last two years, when he has been expected to really deliver, he has failed. Why is he so different from countless other...

He can't play next to Pirlo in the center of a 4-4-2. Maybe against Siena or another team who sit back the whole match but that midfield isn't imposing enough at all.
