I've never seen him play well in Pirlo's position and I've never seen much in his game to suggest he should be in that position.

The guy is 28 and has spent his whole career bouncing between Serie B and C.

It was like he had never played the regista role before. He had no idea where to position himself when the defenders had the ball. In the end, Bonucci started just ignoring him and taking the ball into midfield himself.

When Siena were attacking, he was never really in the centre of the defence. Watching on TV, it was hard to see where he was really.

No. Bonucci definitely gets on the ball (and usually gives it to Pirlo) more than Marrone did today. That's not surprising considering Marrone isn't used to the role.

He didn't really have much defending to do and didn't have that much possession. Bonucci gets on the ball a lot more when he's playing in that position.
