    Van Bommel and Ambrosini will be the players for the deep midfield role, so they are really looking for a player to take Ambrosini's traditional place in the squad, playing a bit to the left and getting up and down the pitch, I would imagine.

    Fair enough. I don't see that much difference between the roles Maggio and Dossena play and tend to think it depends more on the tactics of the opposition as to which gets higher up the pitch.

    Some players are ready aged 18, some aren't ready until several years later. I get fed up of the suggestion that any talented youngster can be thrown into a team and be up to performing.
