He might not be a world class player, but he is indeed the most talented player Italy has, and he is damn talented thats for sure. He might have attitude problems, he might not be a player that would run his lungs out ala Rooney. But he is still more talented than any Italian player out there.

But was it not obvious that Italy's attack was not good enough? was it not obvious even before the tournament that creativity was lacking? I think everyone but Lippi agreed that Italy needed a talented player up there.

No big achievement at all. All due respect to Ireland, but you don't have to be that good to finish ahead of them. Plus, the qualifiers don't mean anything at all. Denmark and Serbia were both very good at the qualifiers but were shit in the WC.

Right now he is Rab. We're not counting Del Piero because he's past it, Totti to a lesser extent is past it too.

They didn't have a national protest because the ref already wrongfully give them a penalty for Malouda's dive.

Completely agree with Serge here. Another thing is, this Italian team desperately needed mobility, someone who can take the ball and run at defenders, someone with talent, someone who is able to create something out of nothing. That someone is Cassano, to a lesser extent Miccoli could have...

I was talking about the France game, Malouda dived, but after that incident there was another correct penalty against Zambrotta that the ref didn't give.

In the same game there was a correct penalty against Zambrotta that wasn't given. It evened itself out in the end.

I've seen a lot of people criticizing Lippi's team selection and they are right, his selection was rather poor and he left out a lot of good players and brought in some who don't deserve to be there, but i really disagree with those who say they thought DP should have been called up. DP has...

They were even the better team and the team who created more chances. They missed a penalty and they missed a chance with the goal empty ala Nigeria against Korea. The whole nation was in a state of shock when they lost to NZ :D Also, NZ in the last confed cup celebrated like they won the WC...

Its happened before, over here, they tossed a coin between two teams in the Gulf Cup, i can't remember what it was for though, i think it was for third place.

@Salvatore, I think things would have been different if Zidane stayed. The Italians had the upper hand mentally after Zidanes red card, and it showed in the penalty shootout.
