@Salvatore, I think things would have been different if Zidane stayed. The Italians had the upper hand mentally after Zidanes red card, and it showed in the penalty shootout.

To be honest the only match Italy was impressive in during '06 was the Germany match. The rest of the time they motored through mediocrity like the 1960's version of The Blob. Slow and study, consuming everything they came against.

Every segment of that Italian team was almost perfect.

Now it's a different case.

Oh and by the way , Italy didn't concede a goal from the game till the very end of the tournament, one was an own goal and the other one Zizou's pk.

It wasn't perfect. It was good when it needed to be and it got a few breaks along the way.

Penalties and own goals are goals too mate.
