    Winter Mercato 2015

Too high for Juve to be planning to keep him long term? Think it's just for a season (maybe two) to ensure Juve can sell on their own terms, rather than being forced to if Pogba didn't sign a new deal?

These arguments inevitably end up going against the poacher simply because of how limited a skill-set they possess.

I don't think they spent anything in January after they sold Hernanes to Inter.

    [ITA] Serie A 2014/2015

This whole Trezeguet versus Shevchenko argument is flawed because the players are just too different. If Juve were playing Trezeguet and Del Piero and Milan were playing Shevchenko and Crespo, the arguments have to be Trezeguet v Crespo and Del Piero v Shevchenko.

    Trezeguet over Crespo any day.

:agree: Damn Marotta for not giving Conte enough mediocre Italians.

    [ITA] Serie A 2014/2015

That's being overly dismissive of the significance of Serie A, but I wouldn't debate your general point. Once upon a time if you were the best in Italy, there was an assumption you were pretty much the best in Europe. There's certainly no longer that assumption.

    Fabio Quagliarella

Given that Conte has called up Quagliarella, I can only conclude that Conte quit Juve because Quagliarella was sold.

    [ENG] Premier League 2014/2015

:D You ever watched The Day Today? It's a spoof news programme and the forerunner to Brasseye, which is also wonderful. The sport section of it contains outstanding football commentary:

    • UEFA defines locally-trained or 'homegrown' players as those who, regardless of their nationality, have been trained by their club or by another club in the same national association for at least three years between the age of 15 and 21. Up to half of the locally-trained players must be...

    Leonardo Bonucci

Pretty much. Bonucci has clearly not dealt with that situation well, but it's hardly a sequence worthy of a gif and and extended criticism.

    Leonardo Bonucci

Don't really see much of a problem here. On the first ball he should be going for it with his left foot and just looking to knock it out of play, because it is an awkward ball to deal with. On the second ball, Bonucci is quite rightly shaping his body to be ready to move with Maxi Lopez...

    [ITA] Serie A 2014/2015

I don't think anyone would suggest that team was better than the Sacchi/Capello teams of the late 80s and early 90s. The 2005 Milan team was extraordinary in terms of the individual talent in it, though.

:boh: Man Utd seem to want to overpay, whether they need to or not. The signings wouldn't seem so impressive if they hadn't cost so much.

But it's a player Van Gaal likes and probably would have signed this summer had he not been injured. It's also a type of player they undoubtedly need.
