    Massimiliano Allegri

Statements like that are great. All coaches usually make subs earlier than Allegri did last night, including Allegri. But that doesn't mean it is always necessary/desirable to make subs earlier than Allegri did last night. You have to look at each game individually to see what is required. I...

Let's see how Juve get on if/when they introduce a third attacking player to their line-up before looking for a fourth.

I think a lot of it is that Allegri is getting quite close to actually maintaining the 3-5-2 shape when Juve don't have the ball. Latterly under Conte, Juve were falling back to 5-3-2 very quickly when they didn't have the ball and when you are in that shape you have little option but to drop...

    Alvaro Morata

It'd be okay so long as Morata worked the channels and the fullbacks provided decent width. Llorente may not move a lot, but he's good at pushing a defence back, which helps to open up a space between the defence and the midfield for Tevez to play in. It's not ideal. Juve don't have the...

    [CL] JUVENTUS 2-0 Malmö (September 16th 2014)

Can't recall him making much by way of a positive contribution to the game. Thought Evra and Asamoah combined to ensure there was no prospect of danger from Juve's left side for the most part.

    Pereyra was suspended.

Don't think he wants to play on the left wing either... He played a pretty deep, trequartista-ish role tonight.

In these last couple of games, there has been little evidence of Allegri looking for Bonucci to attempt difficult passes in the way that Conte did.

If you wanted to play that three, I would undoubtedly have Barzagli in the middle.

I've never understood the focus from people on the 'dai, dai, dai' thing. I know that when I'm at a game and I see a player has the space to drive forward with the ball, I'm likely to be bawling something to the same effect.

Possibly. Happy to wait and see what is needed in particular games and who is in form when a decision has to be made. I think I'd line those three up in a 4-3-1-2, rather than as a real front three, though.

    [CL] JUVENTUS 2-0 Malmö (September 16th 2014)

I didn't mind the back three given the players that Juve have available just now. If Juve hadn't scored when they did, I'd have been looking to sub Evra, push Asamoah wide and go to some sort of 3-4-1-2/3-4-2-1 type of thing to push for a goal.

Remember that Allegri is not attached to 3-5-2. I think there are a few players who are fighting for the additional attacking spot that will very probably become available once Juve get some more people fit and Allegri starts experimenting with '4-3-?' formations.

    [CL] JUVENTUS 2-0 Malmö (September 16th 2014)

Tevez was always trying to drop into that space. It's just that he was actually able to influence the game more from that position once Juve started to stretch the game better and Malmo tired a little.

    Yup.

    Gianluigi Buffon

Thought it was a good example of a keeper making the save itself relatively straightforward due to seeing danger very early and getting into the correct position before the forward had a chance to do anything.

    Massimiliano Allegri

I wouldn't go as far as to say Juve pressed. However, they didn't retreat and cede territory and possession after going 1-0 up, so there was less danger of Malmo sneaking a goal simply by virtue of spending time in and around Juve's penalty area.
