I was more surprised at their failure to sign an upgrade on Behrami to partner Inler in midfield.

    [Serie A] JUVENTUS 3-0 Cesena (September 24th 2014)

Sure, but that's true of most systems. One puts a broad label on a shape, but there are almost invariably little adjustments depending on how players/coaches interpret roles and situations.

    [Serie A] JUVENTUS 3-0 Cesena (September 24th 2014)

I wouldn't change system just to get Pereyra in the team. However, if I decided I wanted to play a particular system, I'd certainly have no concerns about putting Pereyra in the team.

    Roberto Pereyra

Well that would be a remarkably poor show given how much time national coaches have on their hands.

Isn't it amazing how often national coaches suddenly realise a player is worthy of a call-up as soon as they move to a big club?

    [Serie A] JUVENTUS 3-0 Cesena (September 24th 2014)

I would argue that you don't need to play three centre-halves at home against Cesena, particularly when it is Marchisio that is playing in front of the defence. When it was Pirlo in that role - who isn't going to be much use at defending counter-attacks, I had no issue with playing a back...

    [Serie A] milan 0-1 JUVENTUS (September 20th 2014)

By all means mock the standard of player. But surely it is better to sign a player for nothing than to pay for him if you are getting the same standard of player? Milan have at least now started to move away from overpaying for mediocre players.

    What's wrong with signing free-agents?

    [ITA] Serie A 2014/2015

Inter's current squad still looks awkward just now, but I think that is down to Mazzarri not using it well rather than the options not being there. Watching them last night, they played with a back three (none of them able to step forward with the ball or play passes) and Medel in front of...

No more than it was before. Major parties are just starting to squabble about how to deliver what they promised for Scotland and what they have to give England to balance things out.

    Somewhat hyperbolic, I would suggest.

    UK Politics

They aren't. There seems to be a belief that any party with remotely left-wing leanings is currently unelectable, so all the parties are focused on occupying the centre ground (though that is moving right). I don't understand this position - particularly just now - when there is so much...

I don't see why that would please Juve fans.

    Carlos Tevez

Main issue with that would probably be that there has to be a fair chance Lichtsteiner will be rested for that game, given the amount of running he's done in the last week. With Caceres injured, that leaves Romulo for right-back. Are you going to change shape and play Romulo right-back when it...

    Winter Mercato 2015

Given the lack of midfielders available for that game playing 3-5-2 was always likely. I think you'd have had to play Coman or Giovinco to play a different shape in that game, so it was perfectly understandable to stick with the proven senior players and the shape that fitted most of them in...

    Carlos Tevez

:boh: The decision to start the season with 3-5-2 was easy due to the injuries in the squad. I don't doubt Allegri will still have it in his head to move to his preferred '4-3-?', but I guess it'll be dependent on how well 3-5-2 continues to function and which players are available and in form...

    [ENG] Premier League 2014/2015

Possibly, but things have developed to the point in England where people (even if they want to) at least accept they can't get away with monkey chants/general racist abuse in public. Online you see that the same old views are still held, though. Italy hasn't yet got to the point of...

One would imagine Evra. No reason to think that Asamoah wouldn't do okay there, though.
