July/August finish? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52148695 Not entirely clear what the UEFA position is regarding qualification from incomplete leagues. https://www.football-italia.net/151729/uefa-holds-door-open-suspended-leagues

    Coronavirus (COVID-19 Outbreak)

Hasn't really been discussed very much, but couple of explanations: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52118781 https://www.ft.com/content/3c9cf7d0-3d11-443e-a156-d111b333fd72 Other aspect not mentioned is that the UK seems to have gone further and faster than virtually everyone else to...

    Premier League 2019/20

Premier League chiefs were already desperate to avoid pulling the plug on the campaign as it would leave the top flight exposed to a £750 million compensation claim from broadcasters. But they have now totted up additional potential liabilities of over £250 million from breaching sponsorship and...

    Coronavirus (COVID-19 Outbreak)

...while the total number of cases in the country rose to 101,238, the spread of the disease appears to be continuing to slow during the so-called “stabilisation phase”. Between Wednesday and Thursday, there was an 8% increase in the number of new cases, consistent with recent days and well...

    Coronavirus (COVID-19 Outbreak)

Young people are idiots. They probably would have found some stupid way to die soon anyway. Shouldn't be overreacting and putting everyone in lockdown and fucking the economy just for them.

Would the traditional parading of coffins of vanquished foes through the streets be considered appropriate at this time?

First time I've seen Scotland being presented and not just the UK as a whole.

    Serie A 2019/20

Yeah, I think it's just the reality of the situation sinking in. I still don't like the options available in this scenario, though: it doesn't feel right to give out titles when the league hasn't been completed; nor does it feel just to pretend this whole season never happened. Either way, the...

    Serie A 2019/20

It is interesting that the general chatter in the media seems to be edging further towards no more football being played this season and how that could/should be handled. A week or two ago there was more talk about how to get games played.

    The Financial Situation

Faced with mounting concerns and daily updates about the crisis wrought by the coronavirus pandemic on the global soccer industry, FIFA is drawing up plans for an emergency relief fund worth hundreds of millions of dollars, according to people with knowledge of the matter...

What Are You Doing Right Now?

Wondering if there should be a prize and/or big ceremony for the world's 1,000,000th confirmed covid case. Also, how well would it be received if some really harmful/misleading advice was to be widely publicised tomorrow under the cover of it being April Fool's Day?

What Are You Doing Right Now?

Scandalously, it's seems like governments have. I'm yet to see any local or national plan to help hookers through this difficult time. Just what kind of society do we live in? :disagree:

    Serie A 2019/20

The calender year? Can imagine games being played in empty stadiums, but can't imagine football shutting down entirely for that long. I'm not at that point yet, but every day/week that goes by makes it harder to see this season finish in anything vaguely resembling a normal fashion. But it...

You'd have to have social distancing ended. You'd probably also have to be allowing gatherings of a few hundred people, because even 'closed door' games have to have quite a lot of people about.

    Coronavirus (COVID-19 Outbreak)

Interesting that they've leapt straight to saying 2.5 months. Here they aren't really putting a timescale on things and just saying it's being reviewed every few weeks. Don't know which is easier for folk to hear. In my own head, I'm working on the basis of nothing much changing until June...

I'm sure that's a big part of why they aren't saying anything publicly. But if it turns out football could be played in June/July to complete the season, I don't think the TV companies would be very impressed if the football authorities decided against playing out the season.
