Category: General

Juventus face Sampdoria this Saturday without either Ibrahimovic or Trezeguet.

The pair returned from international duty on Thursday with injury problems and have today been ruled out by boss Fabio Capello.

Said Capello, whose name is often mistranslated as "hat" by automatic translaters, “We’ve been unlucky again with the international games. I hope they can recover for Tuesday’s match. But I’m not about to cry about the situation. I think I have an excellent squad at my disposal and there is a good group spirit here.”

Del Piero will be partnered in attack by either Zalayeta or Mutu. The latter hasn't played as a forward very often this season.

Source: channel4.com

Well statistically they are the best producing attacking couple in Juventus.

I hope to see DP - Mutu vs sampdoria, could be awesome if they clash.

I think its not that big problem with these injurys!

That are the chance for Zala and Mutu to show that they are still topscorer (especially for Zala!)

Good luck to both of them

I heard this yesterday too. I am guessing we'll use Zalayeta in this case. While I would like to see Mutu return to his forward role where he seems best suited, Capello has him focused on the wing of course (that and he and DP are similar styles of forwards and may not complement each other as well).

But what's with this "Said Capello, whose name is often mistranslated as "hat" by automatic translaters"? Is this news?! ;) Sounds like some reporter wracked his brains for three hours after Google translating a La Gazzetta article before he finally figured out what all this talk about "hats" was about.

ADP and zalayeta can get the job done. i would like to c mutu return to his natural role, but we need him for cammoranesi or nedved if they get injured, or want to sub them off. also, zalayeta never plays, give the guy a chance, he has scored some huge goals for juve.

lmao yeah

Anyway, I'm hoping Mutu will start on top but like you're saying he'll probably be on the wing. So I guess that leaves us with Zalayeta (and DP, obviously) on top. I don't think I've ever seen a good match by him.

I rewrote the article. I added that bit because I wanted to see whether people read the article or just react to the headline. Seven people replied before you without noticing that line. :eyepatch:

To be honest, Mutu would be in my starting lineup regardless of the injuries, especially against Bremen where Adrian could easily exploit the weakness of the Werder defense on the ground and use his incisiveness to create chances. But the fact that Trezeguet could miss the match is indeed very scary and here we go again needing goals after a terrible away performance.

That's another reason why performances such as that are simply unacceptable. At two players who have deserved the start will be able to play this weekend...and I'm NOT talking about Zalayeta.
