while I find him hilarious and very blunt, I think he's also a bit harsh on some games.

Good reviewers (and not just of games) tend to be a bit harsh. They see so much that they get thoroughly sick of mediocrity. Some of them wind up searching out obscure and weird shit, which no mainstream reader/audience/etc will be interested in. The rest become deeply cynnical. The best of them are also funny. Funny + cynnical = win in my book.
