Category: General

Inter midfielder Cristiano Zanetti has confirmed that he will be joining Juventus on a free transfer this summer.

“I am a Juve player,” the former Roma ace told the Tuttosport newspaper on Monday. “It was a decision which I made in the winter after long reflection.”

Zanetti has been strongly linked with a switch to the Stadio Delle Alpi for the last six months after it became clear that he wouldn’t be remaining with the Nerazzurri.

It was thought that he was specifically requested by boss Fabio Capello, whom he worked with at Roma in the past, and he’s confirmed that the Coach was the decisive factor.

“The presence of Capello at Juventus is a guarantee for me,” added the man who has spent most of this term on the bench.

“Inter did offer me the chance to stay in Milan with a new contract, but I have great faith and belief in Capello.”

However, it remains unclear whether both Capello and Zanetti will indeed be with the Old Lady next season.

The club are one of a number of clubs who are being investigated for alleged match-fixing during the 2004-05 campaign.

Should the outfit be found to have committed any sporting irregularities during that season, they could have their Scudetto taken away, have points deducted or even be demoted to a lower tier.

Although Capello was confirmed as the Bianconeri boss on Friday evening, it is unclear whether he would remain if they had to start in Serie B next term.

Source: Football Italia

Cristiano Zanetti is officially a Juventus player after he today completed his expected transfer from Inter.

The midfielder passed a medical in Turin on Thursday before meeting new sporting director Alessio Secco to sign his contract.

“It all went well and I received a warm reception,” the 2002 Italian World Cup player, who has arrived on a Bosman, stated.

“I’m very happy to have come to such a great and prestigious side like Juventus,” added the former Roma man.

The 29-year-old has been netted at the specific request of boss Fabio Capello who coached the player in the Italian capital.

Yes! Just what we need, another defensive midfielder. I am simply joyous at the prospect of Capello controlling our transfers. What a wonderful thought.

Hopefully Capello will cast aside what we really need and buy another defensive midfielder or two because he surely knows his stuff.

Bring on Perrotta and Barone.

wait does this go in the good news or bad news section?? maybe capello is working on a new master plan of a formation where we no longer play 4-4-2 (hooray) but instead play 4 defensive midfielders across the back, 3 defensive midfielders plus nedved with a defensive midfielder patrolling just behind zlatan who will recieve lots of high balls from the defence as they are all good at passing the ball from deep(punt it up field)....what you think please discuss .....
